I recently went over to my friends house and he had downloaded the new u2 album. If you dont want to have this album ruined for you, then don't read ahead
This album is awesome. I love it. Every song is dynamite. Its so much better than the stuff they've made in the past 10 years. I'm not a big u2 fan, but this is a great album in my opinion. Vertigo, as you've probly heard is a great song. Miracle drug is a beautiful, retro u2 sounding song. Thats all I can remember . But Bonos vocals are spot on, and edges guitars are as letal as ever. The lyrics are very joshua tree era.
Now for all of you righteous people who are like "ohno, you are a criminal of the worst kind if you download an album before it comes out", well most of you as oasis fans probly d/led heathen chemistry 2 years ago. Its just alot of temptation to download an album before it comes out, and we are only human. All is alleviated when you do buy the album, which I will do (i've preordered it, and paid in full so really should be able to listen to it.) Plus, I only heard it once, so I dont actually have it on my computer or ipod (although i really wish i did).
So who has heard the album? What do you people think?

i've only heard vertigo and i don't like it very much... i'm a bit disappointed with U2 since their last album with electrical storm in it... i had loved "all that you can't leave behind" but i don't know why i don't appreciate the new albums...something is lacking but i don't know what however i love the old things

it's no joshua tree, but it isn't another studio version of rattle and hum (thank god)

The searing search for faith ``One Step Closer to Knowing'' derives from a conversation Bono had with Oasis' Noel Gallagher, who asked if Bono's dying dad believed in God. Bono said his father was uncertain and Gallagher replied, ``Well, he's one step closer to knowing.'' Instant song title.

I've heard it all, and I must confess two things: first, One Step Closer is the weakest song on the album; second, the first time I"ve heard I thought it was too slow, you know? but now, I"ve changed my mind and I think it's a fantastic album, more a piece of art from U2... special attention to Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own and Love And Peace Or Else...

In anticipation of this release i broke out my old copy of War...U2 really is a great band IMO...I havent heard all of the album yet..When i first heard clips of Vertigo i thought that it was slightly weak but once i heard the full song i've changed my mind and think its tops...As for Sometimes You Cant Make it On Your Own from the little snippet that ive heard it sounds to be a very good song. Sunday, Bloody, Sunday was really what got to listen to them.

Still waiting to hear the whole album and hopefully it will be good. But i've only heard Vertigo so far, and i don't like it much. It doesn't flow too well, and wtf is up with the spanish bits?

Ive had sometime to listen to the album a few times and the first three songs IMO are the best on the album...Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own is mega and i feel that i will not tire of hearing it...Other notables include: Yahweh and City of Blinding Lights (The intro to that song kind of sounds like Ryan Adams' "So Alive")....If your a fan of the u2 of the 80's you'll surely enjoy this LP. Regardless, I think its a good album and definitely somehting worth to pick up whilst waiting for Noel and the gang to come out with their own Definitely Maybe 2. hehe
