"Phil Collins has admitted that he is talking to guitarist Mike Rutherford and keyboard player Tony Banks about a Genesis reunion.
Vocalist/Drummer Collins, who quit the veteran progressive band on amicable terms for a solo career in 1996, recently wrapped up his "First Final Farewell Tour" in Florida. He explained that the trek marked his retirement from organized touring, although he will still play live when the mood takes him.
Collins has had an astonishingly successful run as a solo artist, selling 100 million records and racking up more than 20 Top 40 hits.
In stark contrast, Genesis managed just one album. 1997's poor-selling "Calling all stations" after replacing Collins with former Stiltskin singer Ray Wilson.
Nevertheless, Collins says he will consider teaming up with Rutherford and Banks again if his schedule permits.
"Mike and Tony both said they'd be quite happy to move here to Switzerland (Where Collins lives) for six months to write some new stuff, and maybe make a new record, 53-year-old Collins told a US-journalist.
"I just thought it'd be fun to play some gigs with them. I don't want to make time for myself at home by stopping touring, then going in to a studio to make an album with Genesis. I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire".
Collins joined Genesis as their drummer in 1970, and took over from vocalist Peter Gabriel five years later when the latter quit to go solo.
In 2001, when asked by Classic Rock about reunion rumours, Collins said: "I'd love to get behind the kit and play those songs again".
Talking about the other Genesis-members, he added: "We like eachother, we just don't work in the same office any more"

lol @ eggy while i would never totally defend the lameness of genesis and phil collins - 'Against All Odds' is top quality. and collins is, musically speaking, very talented. good drummer and singer. Shame he insisted on writing those lame ass tunes of his.... except for Against all Odds! damn mariah carey for covering it  |
