Bookmakers William Hill have removed the second favourite for the coveted Christmas Number One single from their betting lists after it was revealed that the Mick Jagger-Joss Stones duet 'Lonely This Christmas' will not now be released in time for the festive season.
'Punters got very excited when they heard that Jagger and Joss were teaming up for a tilt at the Christmas charts with a remake of the old Mud Xmas hit and poured cash on it, causing the odds to tumble from 20/1 down to 8/1 second favourite, 'But now we have removed it from our list of contenders after being told by the record company that it will not be released in time", said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
Hills now make the X Factor winner 7/2 favourite and also offer: 7/1 Ronan Keating & Cat Stevens, 12/1 Bruce Forsyth, U2, Take That & Ice Cube, 16/1 Ricky Gervais with Noel Gallagher, Madonna, 20/1 Will Young, Westlife, The Darkness, Robbie Williams, Girls Aloud, 25/1Busted, 33/1 Michelle McManus, Kylie Minogue, Justin Timberlake, Gareth Gates, Coldplay, Atomic Kitten, Lemar, Paul Holt.
