heard those songs ages ago on a urban hymns sessions bootleg. they arent up to notch if you ask me, thats why richard weeded them out. same with the songs that made it onto his first soloalbum. apart from that, who gives a fuck that the verve split up urban hymns was pretty much a soloalbum anyway.

If the verve were still together and had just released urban hymns they would be twice as good as any band on the planet now. So i give a fuck! name me one reasonably new band that are better then the verve!

Anyone remember around the time just before the Masterplan (or maybe after) when Liam left the band for a bit, and Richard Ashcroft was rumoured to replace him, wonder how different the world would be now?!!

cabbage is right man, the verve were ace; brilliant band, brilliant music (though a storm in heaven is cocaine psychosis). Urbyn Hymns and A Northern Soul piss all over anything any of these new bands have done; the title of the greatest hits says it right about their tunes: 'This is Music' just wish Ashcroft didnt turn all 'dad-rock' (first album was decent, but the second was too conceptional for even my liking, but i guess its art, right)
