The Strokes are one of the top name bands to perform at the star-studded benefit tribute for Johnny Ramone, who died last week after a long fight with Cancer.

THE STROKES were amongst a star-studded tribute to THE RAMONES last night in NEW YORK.
Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Debbie Harry joined the band in paying tribute to the legendary punks at the Be Well, Ramones Beat on Cancer benefit.
The night honoured Joey and Johnny Ramone, both of whom died of cancer, by raising money to fund the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Research Center and Lymphoma Research Foundation.
The event featured performances by The Strokes, Blondie, Sonic Youth, and included guest appearances from Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Joan Jett among others.
Rock-loving celebrities like Sean Lennon, Vincent Gallo and Drew Barrymore also came out to honour the Ramones’ legacy and to support the cause.
The Strokes played an 11 -song set that borrowed from both of their records, including major crowd-pleasers like ‘Reptilia’ and ‘Hard to Explain’.
The band did not however, reveal any new songs, or even give the audience a hint of what sound they may be currently exploring while in the studio.
The band played:
‘New York City Cops’ ‘The Modern Age’ ‘Under Control’ ‘The End Has No End’ ‘Someday’ ‘Alone Together’ ‘I Can’t Win’ ‘Is This It’ ‘Hard To Explain’ ‘Reptilia’ ‘Take It or Leave It’<br>
