But what good is that when they are just ripping off songs written 30-40 years ago? They are the biggest Clash rip-off ive ever heard in my life.

The libertines have got some great songs but if you think theyre the future of rock n roll your taking the piss. Compare them to the beatles, the stones, the sex pistols, oasis, the clash and the stone roses and they are fucking nothing, simple as that. fair enaugh, they will never be as the bands u mentioned (actually nobody is ever going to be like em) but compared to some shitty bands now, they are really good, and probably will be a great band in the future but never an "oasis" of this decade... |

They are the biggest Clash rip-off ive ever heard in my life. when noel does it it is called "paying tribute" it is about fucking time that a band wants to be like the clash rather than those nice beatles. i am so tired looking at british bands trying to look like shaggy from scooby doo! i dont read music mags. i make my own mind up by downloading music these days. (the music industry has ripped me off for years and now it is payback time) coldplay,snowpatrol,jet,stokes,the killers etc.....there are so many bands out there these days churning out middle of the road easy listening dirge! i just listen to this bands music and enjoy their clever little riffs and clever lyrics and dance to the really fun songs! "cant stand me now "is a great song for dancing. pure joy of life. naah,drugs are seriously damaging the special thing that this band has. it is a fucking travesty. you wanna see another stoned roses "what could have been" thread in ten years time about this band because this band is better than the roses by far! me, i want them to produce more classic music. |

Seriously, that is the funniest shit i have ever heard. When the Libs can write songs that even come close to Adored, Reserruction, SBTD, Waterfall, This is the One etc. Then you can come back to me, then and only then.

ok, dont get me wrong i DO like the libertines. I think most their songs start off really strong but am i the only one who gets bored of most songs by the end. The stone roses songs pull you in and stay interesting from the start to the end.
Musically speaking, i dont feel i have to say anything it is blindingly obvious that the roses are far superiour in that respect.
The stone roses were completely original, i dont think the same thing can be said about the libertines.
The libertines new album is really good, and i wont argue with you about them being the best thing happening at this moment in time because i agree. However compare them to any of the bands as i mentioned in my last post and the are nothing.
Were still yet to see the next big band of this generation. Even if the libertines were able to be it i dont think they will now, theyve blown it, pete doherty is a fucking looser.

Vocals - Ian Brown vs Pete Doherty
The 2 of them arent the best singers in the world but Brown is still a country mile ahead of Doherty
Bass - Mani vs whoever it is?
Erm, no fuckin competition
Lead Guitar - John Squire vs Johnny nobody
Again, one of the best guitarists ever wins by more than a country mile
Drums - Reni vs Little Drummer Boy
No doubt the Lib's drummer is fantastic (even if i dont remember his name) but cop the fuck on, Reni is the drummer of drummers, King Drummer if you will. Never seen anyone like him and i doubt we will again.
