oh fair enough, cheers guys anyone know the reasons for the split or any fansites or anything, they were god damn top, yeah The La's in my opinion are one of the greatest bands in English history but perfectionist Lee Mavers didn't make it a steady future for them, i heard he was working with John Power again and they were makling a new La's album but who knows

Just a update from my local paper:-
Liverpool legends planning to reform
John Power is back with some new songs, an acoustic tour that brings him to Dundee very soon—and huge news for fans of legendary Liverpool band The La’s, writes Roddy Isles, Rocktalk writer.
John started his career with The La’s, who released just one album and a handful of singles, including the classic There She Goes. But the band have been inactive for 13 years after enigmatic songwriter Lee Mavers disappeared from the music scene.
Speculation regarding everything from Mavers’ whereabouts to his mental state has rumbled on ever since, but according to John, his old bandmate is finally ready to return with a new album.
“Lee has written some new stuff and he wants me to play bass on it again,” John revealed to Rocktalk. “A few years ago I wouldn’t have considered it because I was doing my own thing as a songwriter and still working with Cast. But now I’m thinking, why not?
“I hadn’t kept in touch with Lee. We weren’t at loggerheads or anything, we just got on with our own things for a few years. Obviously there was always going to come a time when we would meet and have a pint and either we would get on or we wouldn’t.
“We did meet up, and we got on like a house on fire. So he played me some stuff, and this album of material he has got together sounds really good. It just feels really exciting to me to be involved and playing bass, just as exciting as doing my own stuff.
“It is basically now or never for The La’s. You know, it’s been 13 years since the band split up. We have been split longer than most bands have been together! So we’ll see what happens now. If it works we might write together and see what happens.”
Teaming up with Mavers again is part of John’s philosophy of following his instincts and just doing things he has a good feeling about. That’s pretty much what he’s been doing since breaking up Cast a couple of years ago, and why he’s heading out on the road just now armed with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and his songs.
“I’m at the stage now where I just go with my gut instinct, just trying out things I have good feelings about,” said John. “I’m not 20 anymore, and I don’t have to prove myself to anybody. There’s no grand gameplan, it’s just doing what I want to do as I go along.
“All I’m interested in is music. I’ve only done a little bit of stuff since I split up Cast, and at the moment it just feels like getting my head above the water again.
“That’s why I’m doing this acoustic tour, just to see how it feels getting out and about again and playing my songs to people. All the songs I wrote when I was in Cast were written on acoustic guitar anyway.
“The new songs I’m playing maybe have a little more folk in them, but there will be plenty of stuff that people recognise as well. There’s also some stuff I did for a solo album a year ago that no-one seems to know about.
“I’m just getting my confidence again. I’ve literally done just a handful of dates so far, and it has gone down great, so it’s good.
“It is a bit more romantic just heading out there with a guitar. It feels like being a troubadour, armed only with an acoustic guitar. It’s just a pity I’m not going on a horsedrawn carriage, but you can’t have everything.”
Although the news he’s bearing for fans of The La’s and Cast will leave some feeling that you can.
John Power plays the Westport Bar in Dundee on Monday, September 6, tickets available from the venue and Grouchos.
