Hello all, just came back from my holiday in Finland.
Was in a bar called IGUANA in Helsinki and my girlfriend pointed out that the RASMUS singer Lauri was sittting on the table next to us. My 12 year old sister is a really really big fan so wanted to get his autograph for her....anyway, by the time my girlfriend had found a pen he had gone!!
Night before last (Weds), me and my girlfriend went to a club in Helsinki (cant remember what it was called) to watch a couple of bands who were playin (cant remember what they were called!!). As i was queing up my girlfriends mates pointed out the rasmus singer, i went over to him. He had no problem in having his picture taken with me and giving his autograpgh for my little sister.
Anyway, after the bands who were playing had finished i spotted the rasmus singer hanging around..against everyones wishes (proberbly coz i was fuckin wasted at this point) i decided to go and speak to him. He was fuckin sound!! He was a really down to earth person who talked to me for a good 15minutes. I admitted to him that i didnt really like the rasmus but my little sister did!! To be honest i dont really rememer much of the conversation but he was a pretty sound bloke.
I dont really like the rasmus but ive got alot of respect for my 12-year old sister who is listening to a guitar band who write their own songs. So next time i hear the rasmus playing i will be thinking 'fair play'!!
PS. I asked him 3 times in my drunken state if he liked oasis......he politely avoided the question!!!!!
RESPECT

Lay down that ball, go to your room and listen to the white album...
Thats what you should say to your sister...
If she starts listening to the rasmus, then in 3 years she thinks blink 854 are as good as the beatles...
But maybe it is real, and maybe theyre not fake, i dont know, never knew much about them....

I agree, but that is not my point. My point is that the singer was a top bloke who has made my 12 year old sister the happiest girl ever. Ive got LOTs of respect for him for taking 15 minutes to have a conversation with me...rather than some apparent proper rock n roll stars who would have fuckin headbutted me!!!!!!!!!!

it is always a good thing when bands take the time out to talk to their fans.
whats wrong with a 12 year old liking rasmus anyway?
i suspect that i am a secret busted fan.
hmmh! i think i shall go and lie down now and listen to the white album in my bedroom with the curtains drawn.
or, i could go down to tescos and pick up the latest busted album for £9.69.
wheres my car keys.

Few comments from Helsinki, Finland. Been living there all my life, so I'm quite used to seeing native 'stars' round here, they all seem down to earth (not living in castles or anything). Lauri from the Rasmus and Ville Valo from HIM are good examples. But having heard Rasmus develope through their 10 year career I can say it's going downhill music wise, they used to be really funky. And JayG, next time around, go to bars in Kallio, that part of Helsinki rocks!

Geez man, it was a joke. It comes from a noel interview. Anaïs was dancing to a kylie album or something and noel said he said this line (lay down that ball.........) to his daughter. Of course i think this too, allthough i dont think that the rasmus' style will not inspire another generation to make music that I like. Its just not my style. I i think its not that good music too. But i have to admit that oasis' music is also not always that good. But it is beautifull though: two totally differnet thing IMO... cheers

Think i might have been to some bars in Kallio coz this was my second time in finland and my girlfriend gave quite an extensive tour!! Have to say, i think your country is amazing, everyone seems alot more relaxed in finland and you dont have to worry about getting attacked. My girlfriend comes from Espoo which is also a pretty nice place. Hopefully going back over there for xmas or January, cant wait!! My girlfriend also pointed out a few native celebrities and i found it quite intersesting how no-one bothers them at all and they just act like normal people. Even when i met lauri who is presumibly one of their recent bigger stars, there was no-one harrassing him (apart from myself!) I mentioned this too him and he said he doesnt get much attention in finland ".....apart from crazy english bastards!!!..."

JayG, I have to say we finns do harras celebrities when we're VERY drunk, but who wouldn't? Kallio is the place to be when you're drunk beyond comprehension, no-one minds. And yeah, we're happy to have more of you 'crazy english bastards' hanging round, most of the tourists are polite sightseeing japanese...
