thanks daysleeper! least you named the no1. unlike the wooses! ok, ill name one from the albums ones i listed as the best. im gonna go with the stone roses debut. I love that album now, from the glorious opening bass line of i wanna be adored to the funky jam at the end of i am the resurection, its just perfect. I wanna be adored is my favourite song on it, the way the drums and the bass line come in and get louder and louder with the guitar over the top creeping in, untill it just crashes into the main guitar riff. Its gotta be the greatest intro to a song ever. The lyrics are amazing, "i dont have to sell my soul, he's already in me" everything i wish bands today would be about summed up into one sentence, on the first line of the first song on their first album. elephant stone she bangs the drums this is the one i am the resurection made of stone are my other favs but i love it all. i think we should say why we love the album so much otherwise its just a list of loads of albums with no real points being made.

i think we should say why we love the album so much otherwise its just a list of loads of albums with no real points being made. guess youre right this time. to me sgt. pepper is what i'd call a masterpiece. starting off with a good old-fashioned rocker it proceeds to perfectly combine psychedelic spirit and instrumental power. just listen to the lead guitars and the strings onit. although there is one let down, namely being for the benefit of mr. kite (strawberry fields shouldve been there instead), each song contributes something to the unique vibe of that record. from the day of its release albums werent just regarded as a compilation of songs. key tracks are imo sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band with a little help from my friends within you without you a day in the life

Asking for a favourite album is a tough question. For one thing, you need to rely so much on memory...it is hard for older albums to match the immediate energy of new releases (I'd rather listen to the new Libertines album then DM but that does not mean that I like it more) I'm gonna try to answer this question buy first listing the albums that most caught my attention upon first listen and then decide which of these I like the most... Sgt Peppers- (the second proper beatle album i ever owned, after Abbey Road)-I remember rewinding A day in the life over and over and getting very good at fast forwarding over the silly (for my twelve year old ears) indian song-ahh, the good old day of tapes Velvet Underground and Nico - The first VU song i ever owned was All Tomorrows Parties-I had it on some budget psychadellic compelation-it was the best thing on that cd and made me rush out to buy the VU cd-to my delight i discovered that the song that made me rush out to buy the cd was my least favourite on the record. Satanic Majesties Request and Are You Experienced?- Pot and Headphones = Magic Except I rarely use headphones any more. After the Goldrush- So simple and yet so mesmerizing Definately Maybe- When it came out i was in the process of educating myself on the art of playstation video hockey...i played a lot of hockey and listened to the album over and over...it was like a drug...it was like i had to have it on...over night i went from a guy who prided himself on never repeating artists on mixed tapes to an oasis-other-oasis-other format...they quickly became the beatles of my generation...someone i was waiting for for a long time... wow, its been ten years... Favourite album (now seems fairly obvious): Definately Mabye
