Ya know, there are lots of bands who are in some way like Oasis. Some bands that come close are The Dandy Warhols, BRMC and Jet. Maybe Jet comes even closer then the other two bands. But now I've found a band that comes even closer then these three bands : " The Sheer " Fortunally for me, they come from my own place, The Netherlands. The Sheer is like a crossin' between Oasis in period of Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory. Lyrics are not yet like those of Liam and Noel, but I think that will come later. It's there first debut album, and believe me, it's kind of very difficult to write lyrics like a real Brit when yer a Dutch. By the way, The singer and frontman of the band has a great Liam look. There's no international released album of The Sheer yet, but there are some songs download-able on Kazaa. Some cool songs are : - Something To Say (there breakthru single in Holland) - Strangelove (Beatles-a-like) - Something New (great guitarsong) - It Only Get's Better (latest single release) Just listen and say what ya think of it. Well man I download the whole of by them of soulseek. And i really dig them. Good band. I dig the sound. I would say they sound that much like oasis but you can defenitly hear oasis in there. They remind of You Am I.

Just put on that player thingy on the Gem website. I reckon the sound more like the libertines than oasis or strokes. even though u can hear a clear influence from oasis in there. They are pretty good.
I dig the sheer quite alot, downloaded the album its pretty dam good.
Didnt know you dutch had any decent bands going about now.

Well, Gem is also a quit good band, but isn't like The Sheer. I think The Sheer has much more potention to get bigger. Gem is a good band, and might be a bit bigger because of the hype 'round the strokes. But Listening to these bands, I think Holland finally starts to begin pullin' off good bands like The Sheer and Gem. Hopefully they'll get the change to get bigger, which has always been a struckle for Dutch bands, cos of all those budgets you'll need for it. But fook it, I've you've got a really good band, you'll grow as big the way ya deserve. Let's hope The Sheer will get that change.
O yeah, and Oasis willl always be Oasis, I know, but I believe The Sheer could be the next big thing.
Cheers mates !!! Live Forever

Here's a list full of cool Dutch bands :
- Daryll Ann - Supersub - Caesar - Doll House Drama - The Sheer - Gem - Racoon - Johan - Silkstone
and these are some good bands from Belgium (our brothers from the south)
- Novastar - Das Pop - Millionaire
All of these are good, but it's a shame Dutch record companies haven't got the budgets needed, to launch these bands in other countries. Hopefully some day Holland will be proud of it's music. Now we only have the Venga Boys who made it, o yeah and maybe Anouk.

the sheer is good, but they haven't grown up yet! I like the sounds, but the lyrics are not quite good... Live, the are very explosive, that's why I think they should get more attention!! The Sheer is one of the best Dutch bands in years!

Ive seen em live a few times, and i dont think theyre like oasis. Only 1 guitar, thats a pity (although they use this cool hammond). They play this punk-cover version of meterial girl (madonna) live. its a bit more punky than oasis.
BTW: try to download their acoustic version of something to say. I think its brilliant.
But i think their very very good though..

Oasis is stoppable, and im affraid the next album will be the last. No band will ever be like oasis though. But no band has ever been like another band. I think its bullshit when people say: theyre the new this or the new that. NO!!! Every band is different. They can look the same, they can make the same kind of music, but its still another band...
amen...

I think Noel will go on on his own like peewee, and make solo-albums and do sideprojects with the stands and the bandits and who knows who...

No no no! He will not do that, cos he said that he wont wish of joining another band or going solo! It wouldnt work unfortunley, cos his voice is not as gud as liams! But its ok though.

there is no point trying to find the next oasis because bands as good as that only come along every two decades and they wont sound like oasis they will sound like themself.
jet and the stokes just suck donkeyballs quite frankly!
thats the new oasis? fuck off. posh rich kids can never truly create the conditions for real rock n roll to flourish.
daddy can i have a golden les paul? YES SON, WOULD YOU LIKE SOME AMPS AND A BAND WITH THAT?
i bet noels first guitar was a crappola 2000e and he got a better sound out of it than he did with les paul.
sorry, i get tired with all those rich kids playing rock n roll before they go in to the stockmarket.

They are not, they're just a bunch of honest real guys, like Oasis. That's a cool thing about The Sheer. By the way, it would be cool if when Oasis starts doing a tour again, they bring in The Sheer as there support act

Or GEM. Ive already seen the sheer a few times. and im going to see gem next week. THink theyll do allright. But i saw the sheer yesterday on the telly and didnt properly think they were cool. Jumpin onstage and all that, i personlally dont like that. Plus the singer is so ugly!
GEM present themselves as a mix between oasis and the strokes, which i think is stupid to say.
Only time will learn were theyll go...
