i heard a few songs in hmv today, its ok. Some of the lyrics are a bit shit though. Ive not really heard enough of them to no whether its a change in direction but nme certainly didnt think so, 6/10 they gave it and just basically said its all the same.

Hoi less of that Columbia, the lyrics are quality man! And 6/10 is quite a good mark for a traditional guitar band these days from the NME. Who gives a flying fuck if its basically all the same? What do the NME want The Charlatans to do? Make a fuckin opera record or something? They'll give the next Oasis album a pretty luke-warm review I bet, no matter how good it is, even though they are usually a champion of the band. Personaly I stopped buying the NME when they called Justin Trousersnake 'The Coolest Man On Earth' or whatever it was. After years of buying it that really was the final straw.

yeh the nme are bastards, if the charlatans did dramatically change their direction theyd go "ts shit it doesnt sound like a charlatans record"and when they stay the same its "same old stuff".
Anyway, the album might be good ive reserved judgement. I was just saying some of the lyrics on one song i heard were a bit, well...lets just say they wer'nt great...

i dont mind if the lyrics arent amazing, as long as the song itself is really good.

fuckin bees knees isn't so convincing... Well its the fuckin dogs bollocks then Well a quick synopsis :- Theres a few tracks that rock the fuck out e.g. Up At The Lake and As I Watch You In Disbelief Theres a couple chill out tunes e.g. Loving You Is Easy Theres a few nice ballady type things e.g. Cry Yourself to Sleep and Dead Love And its just a good all round album. And the sound is a bit different from their other stuff in that there is no Hammond Organ on this one. And the keyboard parts are mainly piano bits.

i heard 'loving you is easy' it was pretty weak in my opinion. nothing really to get excited about.
