Singer Courtney Love is in trouble again - this time for throwing a microphone stand and hitting a man on the head.The incident is said to have happened at an upmarket New York nighclub Police said Love, 39, the widow of rock legend Kurt Kobain, was facing an assault charge.

Earlier she appeared on the David Letterman show and repeatedly lifted her blouse to expose her breasts. She did it first while making her entrance and again during the interview.

On both occasions she had her back to the cameras.

Earlier this week Love appeared in court in California charged with possessing illegal painkillers.

They were discovered when she was taken to hospital for treatment for a drugs overdose.

She is also accused of trying to break into the Los Angeles home of a former boyfriend.

Letterman looked profoundly uncomfortable with Love's scatterbrained performance, but he did get the last word. He was looking to cut to a commercial, but Love insisted he ask her one more question.

"How much do you weigh?" Letterman said.
Love looked shocked. She didn't answer.
