THE STROKES will play this year’s V FESTIVAL, NME.COM can reveal.
As previously rumoured in NME, the group are tipped to play the event, which takes place in Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Stafford in August (21-22).
This evening a spokesperson for the event has confirmed the group's appearance.
Speaking to Radio 1, Albert Hammond Jr said they wanted to play an English festival they hadn’t played before.
He revealed: "We just thought it would be more exciting to play stuff we hadn't played before, you know? I know that might seem weird. Even if we came back and said 'Oh, we didn't like it,' at least we tried it, you know?"
Other names for the event will be confirmed in the coming weeks. See next week's issue for more details.
