yeah not the best cover i've ever heard. i've caught a similar style cover version of Floyd's Comfortably Numb which may be by the same group? they sound quite alike from what i remember
that cover was crap as well!
certain songs should just never be covered....

i've been listening to Radio One for a while now. and in 1 hour and a half, i heard 4 cover versions!
comfortably numb, fell in love with a girl, a U2 remix, and some 80's song i can't remember the name of
covers seem to be 'in' at the moment...

In defence of the coverist, it's that artists interpretation (sp?) of the song in question. I have heard many a rotten covers in my day, including one that made a ridicule of the already worn out song "Smells like teen spirit" wich I had an inclination to like a few years back. And also the wrecking of an excellent song wich remains unnamed, by the most disgusting and overrated glorified boyband to ever hit the US top 100.
But, to the person that hears to cover first that is the original song. Wich happened to me with Oasis cover of the Beatles song "All You Need Is Love" I felt that the Beatles were a piece of crap for destroying that song.
But, changing the topic to "good covers" what about Coldplays version of "Songbird" gotta love that one.

Yep, mr martin's cover of songbird was good, although i still think the best version is the demo off of the dvd single. Ryan Adams' Wonderwall is vvv good IMO, so good that Noel started to cover the cover live!!

im going to skip down the page and make a point of not reading the opinions about the song.
i didnt like it much at first but it sounds really class to me now.
it is a real grower and now i love it to bits.
a tribute to great songwriting. now people are going to say that that horrible punk band really ruined a classic song when they hear the stripes doing it.
just proves that the stripes are more than just a gimmicy band as someone once said.
great songs are timeless.

now after reading your opinions i also love the new version of Comfortably Numb which is a damn fine song too.
my punk soul wont let me like the orig version!
vile snobby hippy shite.
i hate the floyd. sorry daysleeper, dave gilmore is a cock!
the floyd heard what punk was doing four years earlier and spent five years writing another brick in the wall just to be pipped at the post by madness doing baggy trousers,a song about what what school really was about.
out of touch with real people for decades! pink floyd. shine on you hazy diamonds.
fuck em!

my punk soul wont let me like the orig version! yeah and the cover version is sooo punk who did it again? Johnny Rotten? lol - i love your posts beerbaron - the best part is trying to work out when you are being sarcastic or not ;D ok so yeah, i was the one who called the white stripes gimmicky. and i stand by that - they are good, but they are gimmicky Pink Floyd are in touch with real people, but they express themselves in a different way. being 'real' doesnt have to involve being working class, acting hard, and swearing on TV.... i have to presume you are being sarcastic about liking the new comfortably numb...it is awful

daysleeper! i am insulted at you calling me sarcastic. i am a very sincere person when discussing music and find your taunts quite frankly very insulting.
i am only trying to contribute to this discussion board and get people to discuss music. people like you just make me want to weep.
anyway, comfortably numb the new version is really really good thinks i.
its very catchy and i do like it a lot.
pink floyd being in touch with real people. now whos being sarcastic?
