Pete Townshend has revealed that he contemplated suicide after confessing to downloading child pornography.

The Who guitarist was arrested last January after his name appeared on a list of people the FBI suspected of accessing a child pornography site.

He was cautioned by police and his name was placed on the sex offenders' register after he admitted once using his credit card to access child pornography.

In an interview with The Observer, Townshend said: "If I had had a gun I would have shot myself.

"And if I had shot myself it would have been f***ing awful because it would have confirmed what everybody thought."

He repeated his assertion, made in a statement to the press when the allegation first appeared a year ago, that he is not a paedophile.

He added: "Look, what I did was wrong and stupid. The legal position is clear, my experience is clear, my culpability is clear but my innocence is absolute. I feel I am completely and totally innocent."

I am still so grossed out by him.....these people who get off on little kids are all sick!!!!!

I really think if this happened while The Who were in their heyday it would have affected them tremendously in a negative manner.
