Michael Jackson has topped the charts with his new album, Number Ones, despite being accused of sexually abusing children.
The collection of the singer's hits sold well around the UK this week as police arrested the star for allegedly committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.
The album beat Busted's offering A Present for Everyone. The two had been battling for top spot all week, with news of Jackson's arrest fuelling public interest and subsequently spending on the star's music.
Dido's album Life For Rent dropped from the top spot down to number three.
Westlife went straight to the top of the single's chart with Mandy, closely followed by Girls Aloud's Jump at two. Fame academy winner Alex Parks' Maybe That's What It Takes rounded off a top three of new entries.
Busted's Crashed The Wedding, which had topped the singles charts last week, dropped to number four and Britney Spears fell four places to six with her single Me Against The Music, featuring Madonna.
Enrique Iglesias just missed out on the top 10, entering the charts at 11 with Addicted.
The album chart also featured a number of debut albums, with Kylie Minogue's Body Language in at six. The Beatles entered the chart at seven with Let it Be - Naked.
