Rod Stewart bashes Sir Paul, Elton

British singer Rod Stewart lashed out at fellow music legends and the press on Tuesday, complaining about the treatment of his relationship with 32-year-old model Penny Lancaster.

According to the BBC, the 58-year-old Stewart criticized the press for pouncing on his relationship with Lancaster while ignoring Sir Paul McCartney's marriage to a woman half his age.

"What pisses me off is they never have a go at Paul McCartney... but they kill me because of Penny," said Stewart. "Perhaps it's because he's got a knighthood."

McCartney, 61, is 26 years older than his wife Heather Mills, the same age difference between Stewart and Lancaster.

Stewart made the comments while promoting the musical "Tonight's the Night", based on 22 of his chart-topping hits. The show has its gala premiere Tuesday tonight in London.

At the event, Stewart also criticized fellow singers Sting and Sir Elton John, complaining that Elton -- whom he called a "miserable bugger" -- never invited the Stewart to any of his parties. He also said was "astounded" that he had never won a Grammy award in his 30-year career.

"They tend not to give to the British unless you're Sting ... Mr. Serious who helps the Indians," he said.

Stewart went on to express his surprise at never having been honoured by the Queen with a knighthood.

"I don't know why I haven't got any honour. I do my bit for charity."
