Former college rockers R.E.M. are heading back to school, guest starring on Fox's Christmas episode of "Boston Public," Zap2it.com reports.
Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe, currently promoting their greatest hits package, will drop by the show when teacher Marla (Loretta Devine) accidentally books the band for the school's holiday fundraiser.
The episode, written to reflect the meaning of R.E.M. hit single "Losing My Religion," will also feature a student who thinks he's Jesus.
R.E.M. will play an acoustic version of the song on the show, while their new single "Bad Day" will compete with Christmas carols as background music. The band's music also served as the soundtrack for a recent episode of The WB's "Smallville."
This isn't the first time the Georgia band has helped Fox celebrate the holidays. In 2001, R.E.M. shared a tofu turkey with Homer and family on a Thanksgiving episode of "The Simpsons."
