Flaming Lips to release feature film

The Flaming Lips' long-awaited feature film Christmas On Mars is to be released before the end of the year.

The movie - written and directed by frontman Wayne Coyne - tells the story of Major Syrtis and his experiences of spending the festive season on a newly colonised Mars.

Set at Christmas time, it has been described as a cross between Eraserhead or Dead Man and The Wizard of Oz.

A four-minute trailer of the film is currently available to view at the band's official website.

It will also be included on their upcoming new edition of Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.

Released on November 18, the package will combine the original audio disc alongside a bonus DVD containing nearly two hours of visual content with original artwork from Coyne.
