Drugguish music? Philosophical music? Biggest band ever? What's your opinion on them?
One thing is sure, Dark Side Of The Moon is the best-selling british album of all time...

i like their albums.. to me The Wall is a bit overrated, cuz they had other great ones too. gilmour's 15 mins-solos live recordings can be a bit of a burden for some ;D

Floyd have plenty of better material than The Wall! eg Dark Side or Division Bell

Where's DS regarding this thread. The guy loves his Floyd! the girl sure knows what i love yeah big Floyd fan here! best band for the kind of music they do. lyrically superb, great guitar lines. Noel loves the Wall. i don't think its their best album, but it is amazing. gets better with every listen - but its hard to get into. Comfortably Numb is just perfect. i'd say the dark side of the moon, or wish you were here are their best albums. its a shame more people don't like the Floyd. they are a little freaky sometimes, but there are certain songs you just have to love!

They are one of my favorite bands of all time. I watch the Wall about million times. Though I one thing was weird in movie. When the kids singing the wall. The part where the kids say"Hey, Teacher leaves thoughs kids alone." there was a kid who look like me at that age A carbon copy it looks like. If you see ?you see a blonde hair boy which look like me at that age Anyways I can listen to them all day long. Roger Walters is a genius in my view. It was sad how Sid went out and how the band dedicated there success about the lost of Sid:( I know he is fine now. But it was too bad

Dude I swear your a computer you remember stuff from a decade ago like nobody , I was fairly new then and wanted to post but I was posting so much on oasis i didn't want to weigh in .... Floyd is a band on a different level of rock to.me , nobody does what they do better EVER. is it rock and roll ?? Like ZEP , oasis , vh , ECT ECT. ?? No But it fits the format in general and nobody plsyed that style better Funny you dug this up today , I swear 101.1 on my way to gym pulled out PIGS (3 different ones ) and I haven't listened in awhile and was blown away , animals is probably as good as a LP ad they ever did , im ready to listen to dogs and pigs on a wing now ..... And how many bands outside of Zep went on a run of all time classic LPS in a row ? Dark side , wish you were here , animals , the wall , all from the 70 s all all time classics and each lp can be argued as thete best ever , for me it's animals and wish you were here , but those 4 if not in a row I forget if meddle was ahead or behind dark side but those 4 or 4 in 5 stand with any bands best lp s imo. Why im so against calling it floyd with only 2 people , but if they don't tour it's cool

I don't really like The Wall; I need to listen to more of their work. God bless.

I was raised on Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles and Neil Young mostly.
So yeah, I know a lot of Pink Floyd and I love it. I haven't really listened to stuff like The Final Cut and The Division Bell yet, but I have heard most of their stuff. I love Echoes, it's so haunting. And Comfortably Numb is one of my most favourite songs ever. That first guitarsolo is fantastic. I prefer that song to Wish You Were Here. The first two albums with Syd are cool too.
My dad had their new album on the other day and though it wasn't bad it really was a bit meh, imo.

Some of the Greatest nights of my teen years was going to the Hayden planeterium in MANHATTAN , to catch the floyd laser show , Some say that taking hallucinations is bogus and it Doesent enhance expierences , to that i say bullshit
I've seen the show sober , drunk , and seen it on ,shrooms , mescaline , or acid and those times were so much more intense and visual , the lights seemed to flow thru you from space ,
Im the biggest ZEP fan but both had shows there to lasers , man floyds was by far the best , trippiest , there tunes were made for laser show ......brain damage / eclipse to end the show seemed to be beaming right at you , highly RECCOMEND it , of course I won't comment if I feel you should embide in hallucinations;)

The first memory I have of the band was when I tried acid for the first time. My friend had a bad trip and was freaking out and we were at a friend of his house who I didnt know. He was playing Darkside of the Moon it was the craziest thing I ever heard.
The first Pink Floyd album I ever owned was Pulse. When I heard him sing the guitar solo on Wish You Were Here I was completely blown away.
Not a giant fan but wish I was able to have seen Waters and Gilmour together live.

My favourite band of all time
Whilst I admire the Barrett era it's not really for me and is for all intents and purposes a different band
Their output from 71-79 is unsurpassable for me. Each album from Meddle to The Wall is absolute genius but they're also very different, a true sign of progession. The Wall is my favourite album, I find new things every time I listen to it and whilst the main selling point is the concept, it also has truly outstanding individual songs; comfortably numb, hey you, run like hell, nobody home etc
Also think that Animals gets unfairly overlooked. It's easily equal to WYWH in quality however is rarely mentioned. Dogs is probably the last 'classic' Floyd track before Waters completely took control and is up their is the best thing they ever did. Pigs (3 different ones) has a fantastic groove to it twinned with phenomenal lyrics and Sheep is just a mega rock tune, there's not a wasted second on that record.
I even have a lot of time for The final cut. Songs like The Gunners Dream and the title track are simple beautiful, emotional songs and shows Waters at his best
Whilst Gilmour and Mason had every right to continue after Waters left, it was undoubtedly the weakest era album wise. I cannot stand AMLOR and hate how it's got 5 people with songwriters credits who aren't in Floyd. It's a Gilmour solo record and it's horrible 80's stadium rock sound makes me shudder. That live at Venice film from 89 is cringeworthy because despite how good the music is it's shot in such a way it may as well be a Phil Collins concert.! The slow motion shots of the crowd are horrible. TDB was better because it' had far greater Wright in put and also includes the wonderful magestic High Hopes
Gutted I never got to see them but I saw Gilmour in 06 and Waters in 2011 both of whom were incredible

One of my dad's lifetime obsessions, Pink Floyd. Same as Dylan, i've never had a choice, they were always with me. Listening now i'm amazed how much Beatles influenced is that band by records like Abbey Road or Sgt Pepper.
It's hard to sum up them, but my very cool teacher in elementary school asked about his favourite band said one thing that i will never forget. He said that there are many bands that he respects and like and it's hard to pick one, but you have to admit that, what Pink Floyd achieved was pretty incredible and no one ever did that since. I was 10 then, but i knew he had a point. Very unique band.

Everyone could relate to being "comfortably numb " in some form in your life

Disc 2 is very interesting. I wonder what the John Latham songs are all about and the Stockholm gig will be interesting aswell as it might give us a better impression on what the band sounded like at the time. Sadly, I remember reading that the vocals were inaudible for the most part. Most of the other material on here was bootlegged very frequently though (Double O Bo, Remember Me and Butterfly are unheard of, I think) I guess that some of the stuff on Disc 3 is not known yet aswell.
I hope somebody puts this up on YouTube soon. I'm sorry but I don't have the money to buy this mega box set.
Edit: Wtf? The already released the old songs from Disc 1 one year ago? Why didn't I know this?
