The 'More Than You Think You Are' Tour comes to Australia:

Has it really been 5 years since their very first Australian tour?

Exploding onto the Australian scene in 1998 Matchbox Twenty swept all before them with their eclectic combination of harder edged but ultra-melodic rock. Their live performances drew such strong critical acclaim and frenetic audience response that they toured Australia twice in the same year, both visits drawing sell out crowds.

The unmistakable vocals and of Rob Thomas have since grown in both strength and maturity, beautifully framed by the heartfelt harmonies and chiming twin guitar arrangements of Kyle Cook and Adam Gaynor, and complimented by the inventive, propulsive rhythm section of bassist Brian Yale and drummer Paul.

Released in November 2002 the current album "More Than You Think You Are" made a top 10 debut on the ARIA charts and is already platinum and rising. The band's most critically acclaimed album to date marks Matchbox Twenty's first new music since the quadruple-platinum "Mad Season" was released in May 2000.

"Mad Season" followed on from their 1996 debut album, "Yourself or Someone Like You," which in Australia alone has achieved 9 x platinum sales whilst on its way to worldwide sales in excess of 12 million copies.

For Thomas (arguably one of the top three most sought after pop-rock songwriters) his latest work carries the same "instant classic" feel as such previous hits as "Long Day", "Push", "3AM " and "Bent", and in his classic collaborations with the likes of Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger and many others.
