Tue June 3, 2003 04:23 PM ET By John Benson CLEVELAND (Billboard) - Now that British rock act the Music has a brief break in its touring schedule, drummer Phil Jordan tells Billboard.com the group is heading back to the U.K. to begin work on its sophomore Capitol album, with an eye on an early 2004 release. Earlier this year, the group's self-titled debut reached No. 4 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
"I do have days when I do think about and it does get on top of me," says Jordan. "But I think the best way is just to deal with how we dealt with everything and just be naive about it and just forget about it and just do what we want to do."
"The first album was basically a diary of us growing up," he continues. "So, I guess the next one is going to be a very brief diary of what we are all feeling now after we've done this, since we made the first album. So, it is like from last May until now."
"The Music" is a guitar-based rock album with electronic enhancements that has drawn comparisons to Oasis, Led Zeppelin, and Jane's Addiction. Jordan says the band, which is somewhat perplexed by the comparisons, is really a guitar group at heart, despite the fact the disc features plenty of techno adornments.
