Is it just me or does the music scene in general seem to be out of the picture these days(In North America at least). There are no ground breaking albums these days, and just the absence of that superstar figure. I can remember a few years back, U2 were all over the tv and newspapers. You don't even hear much from the likes of Britney or other pop trash. In the 90's music was king.
I guess tv and cinema have taken over the entertainment spectacle. With all the blockbusters and Reality tv, i guess no one has time anymore for music. Oh well, it all works in waves, people will get bored of fads and move back to what's good.

Reality TV and Jlo that seems to be all I hear about. Oh and the album I hear most about is Kelly Clarkston, which is so sad. I mean good for her that it went platinum, but honestly- what about real music? The silence is killing me. Tatu gossip is slightly interesting so you know it must be bad. Guess I'll have to concentrate on sports, like Hockey playoffs or something. Oh Mape- Im sorry , sore subject. Your Leafs arent in the cup this year. ( hehe)

good point mape. pretty much the same thing over here - nothing much happening. Noel seems to think that the music scene is great at the moment but i'm not so sure.
theres no buzz around anyone. and with the celebrity culture we have, any big superstar who emerges seems to disappear in 3 months. What happened to Avril?? heard nothing from her for ages. justin timberlake is fading. i'm talking from the UK's perspective though
maybe REM will be music's saviours? ;D

REM's Greatest Hits album will be released on the 27th October with a single, 'Bad Day' released around the same time i've just downloaded a demo of the new REM single 'Bad Day' and its great!! a return to the REM sound of old - jangly guitars and weird lyrics! its got me thinking about how a lot of a band's material goes totally un-noticied by the masses. There are aspects to my 3 fave bands (oasis, floyd, rem) that few people are aware of. only the hardcore fans are. For example, we all know how great some of oasis' b-sides are and how they often show another side of the band, yet the vast majority of people have never heard them! with REM, few people know what they used to sound like in the 1980's. very different to their current sound. Just listen to 'Its the end of the world as we know it(and i feel fine)' to get the idea its just annoying how crap pop acts get so much exposure, and brilliant music gets left in the dark
