The White Stripes are set to join the line-up for T In The Park this summer.

The duo, who are currently on tour, will play the main stage at the event on Saturday July 12.

Their fourth studio album Elephant recently had a two-week reign at the top of the UK's album chart.

There will be more than 100 bands at the Perthshire gig, including headliners Coldplay and REM plus The Coral, Zwan, The Streets, the Charlatans and Idlewild.

Recent new additions include Appleton and the Proclaimers
