This research report is dedicated to DS and Mape66 TATU, the Russian pop duo milking the gay and straight teen market by promoting sexual curiosity, are at No. 1 on the Australian chart. Despite the fact that 18-year-olds Julia Volkova and Lena Katina pretend they are lovers their debut single All The Things She Said has knocked Australian's own sensation Delta Goodrem off top spot. Their video, showing them kissing and touching in school uniforms, is toned down from the original released four years ago in Russia. Their manager Ivan Shapovalov said he came up with the idea of lesbian pop after researching porn sites. He has referred to the girls as his "underage sex project". The former child psychologist and advertising executive handpicked the girls from a group of 500 hopefuls in Moscow, and moulded their image. He then asked Trevor Horn, the man who created Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Relax recording, to produce the shamelessly homoerotic first single. "He [Shapovalov] made us sign contracts, and according to these contracts we didn't have any rights to even speak. We just had to do whatever he was telling us to," Lena once said. Like most controversial acts before them, fans have embraced the girls and they have been a worldwide success and are a permanent feature in many chatrooms on the internet.
