The Charlatans' long-awaited follow-up to 2001's Wonderland will not see the light of day until 2004.
Fans of Northwich's finest, however, will not be totally deprived until then.
Tim Burgess and the boys plan to release a single to coincide with their appearance at the T In The Park festival at Kinross on July 13.
The band have been recording tracks for the new album in Los Angeles - where Burgess lives - and their native Cheshire.
And the Chemical Brothers remix of their track Nine Acre Dust is to be taken to a wider public when it is used in a new TV and radio advertising campaign for Goodyear tyres across Europe.
The T In The Park gig sees The Charlatans - who last year supported Oasis at London's Finsbury Park - second on the bill to Coldplay on the main stage.
Also in the line-up over the two-day fest are REM, Zwan, Supergrass, The Streets, The Music, The Datsuns, Polyphonic Spree and many more.
