Badly Drawn Boy went busking at London's Waterloo Station, but only managed to earn £1.60.
The singer, real name Damon Gough, was snubbed by thousands of busy commuters as he sang his latest single All Possibilities outside the crowded ticket office.
Wearing his trademark woolly hat, he performed with an open guitar case at his feet for more than an hour.
Badly Drawn Boy, whose latest album Have You Fed The Fish was a top ten hit, told The Sun: "People didn't believe it was me, or didn't know who I was.
"I sympathise with real buskers, most people just don't care."
His performance was filmed for a video for the single
