It's been 35 years since we've heard original material from the UK collective. What we thought was the retirement of the group in ‘68, now appears to have been just a really long holiday as the YARDBIRDS release Birdland (Favored Nations Records) on April 22, 2003. Originals members, guitarist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty team up with three new members Gypie Mayo on lead guitar (formerly of Dr. Feelgood), John Idan on bass and Alan Glen on harmonica. On Birdland the band recorded original new material mixed with eight re-recorded classics, like “For Your Love” and “Train Kept A Rolling.” And many guests join them on the record including original member Jeff Beck, and Brian May (Queen), Steve Vai, Slash, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls.)

If it is the Peter Green I am thinking of he actually was an original member of Fleetwood Mac and started the band. I do not recall he was part of the yardbirds although he was a huge fan of Clapton( hey aren't we all) Again this is out of memory so maybe I am wrong??
