Your spot on webmaster - nothing new, been done before, but at least they`re better than boy & girl bands. The Strokes are a much better band.

You mentioned their influences too - i think a lot of the times, a band`s influences are better than the band themselves (not in the case of Oasis, obviously )

The rock music resurgence of 2002 differs musically quite drastically from the grunge phenomenon. Groups like The Strokes and The Hives have been heavily influenced by 50's,60's and 70's rock and roll bands like The Rolling Stones and Velvet Underground to name two. The Vines incorporate elements of the "UK pop" sound, with a somewhat more heavy, aggressive undertone. The White Stripes are all over the map stylistically, pulling influences from country, folk, blues, and punk music. The duo is even known to perform showtunes during live performances.

i dont think that The Strokes are better...
