Billboard's critics have chosen Coldplay's sophomore Capitol album "A Rush of Blood to the Head" as No. 1 in their survey of 2002 albums. The honor comes from our annual critics' choice round-up, where the staffs of Billboard magazine and Billboard.com, and the freelance writers who contribute to each, are invited to submit a list of their top-10 favorite albums, singles, or musical events of the year.
Coldplay's album narrowly edged out Queens Of The Stone Age's Interscope set "Songs for the Deaf," which is No. 2 on the list. The top-5 is rounded out by Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" (Nonesuch), Norah Jones's "Come Away With Me" (Blue Note), and Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising" (Columbia). The full tally can be found in the "Top-10 Lists" portion of Billboard.com's special 2002: The Year In Music section.

i gotta disagree with pezka,NME and billboard i switched it off before the end coz it was getting so dull & depressing. i liked the first 4 songs and The Scientist is brilliant but apart from that it did'nt impress me much for me, its all been done before and been done a hell of a lot better

has anyone given TSOOL a second listen ....I think they are pretty cool after listening to the album several times... most critics agree but I have yet to find an Oasis fan who has much to say about them.

i have to agree with daysleeper the album is good, but i can't understand why its getting so much hype in north america. had all of these so called music critics gone brain dead when Oasis released their albums ?

I cant see how u can have a go @ coldplays lyrics when oasis have come out with a few gems. I mean "faster than a cannon ball " or " You gotta roll with it " it must have been tough to come up with them.

I have the Coldplay Cd and I like it, but yeah it is nothing so great, but it is decent and better then many others i have wasted money on. I think by far Oasis Heathen Chemistry was a better album which to listen to from start to finish, does not make me want to fall asleep or break out the kleenex tissues. Ofcourse not every song is going to be made of lyrical genius for any group or singer. I do not think anyone could pay me to listen to TSOOL. After seeing them with Oasis, that was enough for a lifetime- . ;D

I love The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, i thought they were fantastic after seeing them in toronto opening up for oasis. The people were into them as they performed and realized how good they were. Behind The Music is a great album, pure rock n roll. A Rush Of Blood To The Head deserves everything it gets, its another wicked album, i like all the tracks, and im happy for them. I however do believe Heathen Chemistry is better but i might be a little biased .
