Testament (We all know what Testament do to Slayer each record since 1992, I'd break rule 2 if I described it to you AND THERE IS A RULE 2!)

The Who never were special. They posers, shit lead singer, Pete guitar work is way overrated. Keith on other hand was solid. you just lost a lot of respect from me. i think tommy is one of, if not THE, greatest albums of all-time. get yourself a copy of tommy on vinyl, and it will change your life. they were not posers, roger daltrey has a solid voice that only got better with time, pete's guitar work is not overrated, it's unjustly overlooked. his rhythm work is insane. and who doesn't love windmills? john entwistle was the greatest rock bassist of all time, hands down. nobody even comes close. just listen to "the real me" off of quadrophenia or listen to any live who album and you'll see. and keith was a lunatic. i'd like to add a band to this list: nirvana. hold on, hold on! let me explain. when people think of grunge, this is the first band that comes to mind. however, their music sounds all the same, their songs have the same themes, and their albums are grossly overrated. nevermind, while a good album, was not half as incredible as many think. smells like teen spirit was a good song, yes, but only for the first hundred times you heard it. the same with every other song of theirs. and i'm also putting them on this list because there would be no emo bands if not for nirvana. and i hate emo.

you're right about Nirvana, Nevermind is a decent album but I think the other two are horrible.
but I do think the Who are fantastic and Roger Daltrey has a great voice

Radiohead for sure. Biggest bunch of whiny masturbatory shite ever, and I actually like Sigur Ros. Although Karma Police is a good tune. Stones are fairly over rated. RHCP ditto. Queen is just mega awesome though. A Night At the Opera is truly brilliant.

How any Oasis fan could think that the stones are over rated is amazing to me. Yeah, they haven't had a good album in over twenty years (thirty, since there last great album, Some Girls), but any group that put out albums like sticky fingers, exile on main street, let it bleed and Beggers Banquet, can never be over rated!!! Esp. by Oasis fans.
I suppose it is true that acts like Nirvana and Elvis could be looked upon as overrated. One of the problems these acts have is that they represent as icons of a certain era and/or movement and as such they are seen as much by there importance in history as there musical output. Certainly it is hard for Elvis's rock and roll singles from 1956 (and that really was the quick pinnacle of his career) to shoulder the weight, and validate his historical postion as the king of rock and roll. Nirvana, and Cobain's songs, suffer from the same burdon.
IMO, the most overrated band of all time are the sex pistols. They did come with loads of attitude, I will give them that, but at the end of the day, they were the New York Dolls with british accents. The Ramones, Clash and Buzzcocks all did punk much better then them. The lead singer was an idiot and the only musical guy in the band was sacked cause he liked the beatles and was replaced by the single worst example of style over substance in the history of rock.

I voted Floyd, cause I don't enjoy their stuff much, they did leave a big mark on music though.
Peppers are only bad cause sometimes his voice doesn't cut it live, but when its on they are great. Some awesome tunes

U2 and Radiohead. I can see why they became popular, but fuck if I don't like their music. U2, I've never been a fan of and probably never will. They put on a fucking great show though, I'll give 'em that. Radiohead, I have to respect them for constantly changing, but Kid A and Pablo Honey are fucking shit, The Bends and Ok Computer put me to sleep, and I haven't listened to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief (though I just downloaded the latter).
I'll go with Radiohead though, mostly because their pretentious fans piss the hell out of me.
