I think the stones had the luck of being there while the beatles were around but their discography mainly sucks and they should've stopped 20 years ago because they're way too old and its ridiculous seeing them on stage. But i voted U2 because even though their discography is also shit, they just have a few good tracks that were written 20 years ago or so, i cant stand bono, they cover that few good songs they have with mary j blidge and record shit-songs with green day just to make more money while bono goes to africa in his private jet to save the children.

Oasis are surely a candidate for a nomination in all seriousness, they are considered by alot of people, not me, as one of the most over rated bands ever
U2 are awsome fuck away off with yourself
(Stones btw get my vote)

RHCP. Prefer 'em to some bands on the list but in terms of impact and standing they're fuck all.

If people are going to make statements like U2, and the Stones are overrated, then I'll have to say that the Beatles are pretty overrated too.
Anyway most overrated bands:
Queen Kiss Eagles

Barbra Streisand? Elvis? The Who?
Most Elvis hits were sang by black artist before he did and those songs weren't written by him.
Barbra Streisand is only artist gets on my nerves...
The Who never were special. They posers, shit lead singer, Pete guitar work is way overrated. Keith on other hand was solid.

My vote goes to Floyd by far the most overated band from that list most of the other bands i just accept, i also think Radiohead are overated but thats just because i don't get them and i think because they dare to be different and choose to play music for themselves or whatever gives them some sort of kudos

Fuckin hell, man Where to start? Let's fly through them, shall we. ROLLING STONES: As everyone has pretty much suggested, they are a band where you can dig the classic singles but the rest of it is really a bunch of rubbish. They also have a good live show (I've seen them), but I doubt they could add much more into the setlist to please anyone. ZEP: Okay, why is this on here? It's the equivalent of the Beatles. I do NOT like modern hard rock, but I love everything that Zep wrote or covered. Fantastic musicians making fantastic music. FLOYD: A great band for sure, but I'd say it's more that ONE of their albums are overrated. It's more that I find that the Wall is not that amazing. After Waters left everything went downhill. This requires more analysis so open a new thread. However, unlike the rest of the bands here the singles aren't the best part. U2: Same as above, really. This band has some great albums. Everything from the 80s was surprisingly good (that's because I hate all 80s music otherwise) (except the Stone Roses). However, they fell right apart after Auchtung Baby and they could have packed it in right there. They've had a lot of success of late but it's due to the singles. I won't bash the singles cos I love most of them. The rest of their music is filler. RADIOHEAD: I used to be a big fan of the lads. However, I found that about a year ago I just stopped being so interested in it all. They are talented musicians but they try too hard to go against the grain. I will say that I appreciate them and I enjoy the music from time to time. Unfortunately they decided to ensure that they would lose their fanbase on purpose by changing drastically rather than just losing them over time like the rest of bands. Just as an aside Thom Yorke's record "Eraser" is quite good. QUEEN Hmmm... this one's a little tougher. I don't know much at all beyond the singles. But from what I've heard it's fucking atrocious theatrical nonsense akin to their singles. I really don't get the fixation with such a dramatized approach. I will admit that they have some great songs that display unbelieveable creation and talent; however, they are the first band on this list that I will brand "ANNOYING" RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS: Well, unlike the rest of the bands they've gone from creating noisy funk garbage to some pretty awesome tunes from from Californication and By The Way and back to where they started. Their new album - what the fuck with the double-disk? Nobody wants that. At any rate they have some good songs (as do the rest) but they also have a lot of unlistentoable music

Why is that, globey? I loved them and I still do. Personally I think they were just like a firework, had 2 great albums (especially the first one)...bang!...and gone.

I just dont understand the huge fuss around them especially Doherty, he's held up as some kind of messiah of a songwriter or something, but to me he just reminds me of a tramp busking down the high street (except the tramp would probably smell nicer and have better teeth) ;D

But you forgot one thing and that's quite important I warn you... The Libs weren't Pete's solo band or something like that, but Carl was there and there wouldn't have been The Libertines if one of them - Pete or Carl - weren't there. Have you never heard "Up The Bracket"? The biggest tragedy of The Libs was, like you said, probably caused by the huge huss around them and the press who got more interested in a kind of soap things around them than their music.

Yes I have both of the albums and I quite enjoy both of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they weren't a good band. I do however think that Babyshambles are utter gash.

I know what you mean about The Libs. Babyshambles and DPT are ok, but to me their albums don't mean same as ones by The Libs. I prefer DPT myself although I was quite disappointed Carl's "In The City" on the Electric Proms. He killed that legendary song which was a big shame. However, don't forget about the Westeland boys if you talk about Pete next time...

I have to agree with Mimmi here, Globe.
The first album was fucking mega. The second not so much. The media did get too embroiled in their personal affairs... which always blows a band's relationships out of the water.
I enjoy their tunes, but I'm glad their over as well. Better to burn out....
