The ashes is played between us Aussies and the not so stupid poms every year now, my great grandfather was in the 1st Ashes Aussie team as a bowler so I have a background history of cricket

No have no clue at all, except it used to be 2 years apart I think it is kinda every 2 years, but, because our summers happen at different times of the year, it works out all funny...
