I think his solo stuff shows that he was the heart and soul of the Roses.
Wonder if Squire is regretting having that huge fixation with Dread Zepplin now?
hmmmmm

Ian Brown can't sing properly. Sorry. Whats his voice gotta do with anything? Ian transcends things such as how good a singer he is. He inspired a generation. His look and stage presence has been copied a million times - *cough* *cough* - but has never been bettered. His solo stuff is great, he's done something completley different to the Roses and explored new sounds and ideas, he's not stuck in the past trying to re-live former glories. For his first album he even taught himself to play 3 or 4 instruments and recorded most of it himself in his house. The guy is a fucking legend to me, a true northern soul spirit.

Ian Brown is fantastic, if you've ever seen him live you will know that he can sing but he voice doesn't come across well in bootlegs (same as Liam a lot of the time). Ian Brown has got some fantastic solo stuff, i have all of his solo albums and they are nothing short of amazing.
I'm a huge fan of Ian Brown, John Squire, Primal Scream.. i've even heard some of Reni's new band but the Stone Roses all together are so much better. If they had a reunion i would WALK to Manchester to see it if i had to
