maradona as the best player is as saying oasis is the best band in the world: there is a point to it but the stats are against you.
good technique has to go along with a clean mind i think... (->pele)
wow what a wisdom here..

I've only seen videos of Maradona and Pele..... I would have to say Pele cos he scored and aincredible amount of goals and just because...... It was a different game when Pele was around and then a different one when Diego played.... so greatest goes for Pele, Best has to go to Ronaldinho, there's a difference between greatest and Best

Pelé. Without a doubt. And I agree with Dominic, Maradona wouldn't even be in my top 5.

i think the standard of football over the past 10 years is the highest its ever been It is a completely different football world nowadays from Pele's heyday.. The players are fitter/ have better diets/ the balls are lighter/ the boots are better/ the pitch is far better condition & the wealth current players have.......Maybe it goes to prove how great a player Pele was then and just think how brilliant he would be nowadays with all the advancements in the sport.

How about Van Basten? Bergkamp? Platini? Eusebio?
Maradonna , off course best technique ever, but his mental state is absolutely terrible always trouble everywhere.
To me Cruijff is the best player, IF he won the world cup 1974. Unfortunately the fucking Germans won. So I go for San Marco van Basten, who was succesfull with AC Milan in the late 80's and delivered the Dutch the European Cup with most beautiful goal ever. Unfortunately he had to quit when he was 29, his ankle was destroyed because of the many kicks he had.

How about Van Basten? Bergkamp? Platini? Eusebio? yes van basten might be the best striker of all time right after pele (he scored >1000 fucking goals). gerd müller, eusebio, zico, gary lineker were all great goalgetters in their times. one could subdivide the choice according to positions as for alfredo di stefano, zidane, maradona, platini or roberto baggio as the best midfielders and beckenbauer, maldini as the best defenders and lev yashin or goicochea (the penalty killer from wc 1990) as the best goalies. in the end there are only 3 or 4 names that come into consideration...pele and maradona DEFINITELY and without a doubt being in there.

It's gotta be the wee man Diego. Not saying Pele wasnt as good, of course he was, but he never played in Europe. Maradona went to Seria A, probably the toughest league for a player like him to play in, and ripped it up for arse paper.
