besides coldplay and U2 robbie was probably the must successful and most talked about entertainer outside the US (=rest of the world) in the years of 2002 and 2003.
now he's trying to reach old standards by a new record which he is due to release this fall (i think i read??). it is rumoured that he turned his back on the old oasis-derived britpop his ex-songwriter gus chamber used to write for him.
i wonder whether he is going to have the same number of shrieking and crying zit-faced teens without persona (because MTV knows to educate their clients) buying his record even after this long break he took.
the releases from his greatest hits album (radio + misunderstood) didnt have so much airplay as his previous singles.

He's no good. His songs are shit and he's a got an extremely punchable face. What I don't get is that he's seen as some kind of sex symbol, since when have women liked porky chavs?

I've just been browsing this forum and I must say as Oasis fans you've mentioned Mr Williams far too many times. I'm beginning to think you find him a worthy topic of conversation!
As an obsessed Robbie fan my view is that his career isn't going to go down the pan totally. Although he's getting bad press and everyone is saying the new album sucks, I think he'll come out good in the end. Plus with the Take That getting back together and overshadowing him at the moment it's not looking too good in the Robbie camp. The fans are divided and a lot of Rob fans are now turning their attentions back to Take That and Rob's kind of on the back burner at the minute, no one is interested and everyone is talking about Take That instead. & a lot of the fans are saying that Take That's new album is the album that we wanted Rob to make instead of Rudebox which hasn't gone down well with everyone. Most Robbie fans are sad housewives who don't want to hear daft rapping and see him dressed in his blingy tracksuits, we want back the old Robbie. I don't like the new album much. Most of the songs are all right but I don't know why he's singing about "touching switches", I don't know what a "Rudebox" is (I don't care either), I don't want to hear him sing a song all about drugs and that last song called Dickhead is the most foulest thing I've ever heard. It's sort of funny but I would have prefered him to write Take That's 'Beautiful World' instead - something that is pleasant and not so strange. I think his career may be having a little dip, and if Take That carry on doing well then Rob's may dip a bit further but I think it will be a short-lived thing. He'll be back on form soon, hopefully people at the record company will influence him to write something decent and the next album won't be so weird. One good thing is that at least he's looking good at the moment. He's on tour in Australia and is looking pretty thin for once. He says offensive things that put me off him and he acts like a twat at times but he is cute. You can forgive him for being a vagina because he's got a cute smile and looks FIT!

None of the options really. He sadly has too big a fanbase to totally fade away and die on his fat arse. He will just put out another album of boring ballads and crooners and all the housewives will be eating out of his pants again.

The relative failure of Rudebox is why EMI are praying that Coldplay get another album out asap.

I read that, a good few jobs went and the shares dipped because it did so badly, the previous ablum (his best) intensive care came out with little PR and still was in the top 3 selling albums that year and Rudebox just failed, to quote the man himself "about as welcome as a ginger child" Last time Coldplay stuck to there guns delaying X & Y (which lead to shares dipping again) and then it came out and i still think it was great, but anyway, i hope they don't rush it, because if it comes out soon I don't think any tour would start for at least 12 months

My friend's band is signed to EMI and he was saying at the weekend that the company have stopped most things until the end of this financial year due to the massive losses. His band were originally given a budget of nearly £15k for there next video which was then slashed to a measly £500.
Basement Jaxx's were very good as a support band.
