The whole show. Everyone hates on Ringo even fellow drummers. The guy was the most talented Beatle at his instrument. He changed the way the drums were played, seen, and other factors. He introduced "matched grip" (how drummers hold there sticks) to the world, he was the first to do the drum riser thing, he was one of the first to lower the toms to get a different pitch, and his fills we some of the first that were not just rudiments they had space between each hit. The guy is a fucking genius best drummer ever? But the most influential? I'd say yes.

Yeah, Cast. Very valid. I've always thought that the only truly technically skilled musicians in the Beatles were Paul and Ringo. Both were both revolutionary and just plain talented. I just hate how people rag on Ringo - it's like the cool thing to do. He's a better drummer than Zak or Chris or Alan, if only for his recognisability

Revolver...sorry but theres no way Ringo is a better musician than George Harrison or Lennon. There was a quote from Lennon I think that said 'Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles' and in fairness to Ringo I think he admits that too.
I love him as a bloke, I think he would be a great bloke to meet. He's just an old hippy at heart.
He's no where near any of the oasis drummers in ability, apart from Tony. Alan, Chris and Zak are far far better musicians.
Its nothing to do with 'being cool' by saying he wasn't very good. It's just a fact. But still he's a great bloke.

Lennon and Paul may have been better all around musicians but George and Ringo were the best at what they played. You know what i mean? Lennon's comment about ringo not being the best drummer in the beatles is prime example of lennon's humor. The others could play drums (Paul played drums on Dear Prudence and USSR on the white album) but Ringo has stated that they could only drum in one style. Its always difficult to rate a drummer's musicianship (as it is with all instruments in my opinion) because they mostly stay in the pocket and many of them are not flashy. Ringo wasn't a Buddy Rich, Bonham, or Keith Moon but all of Ringo's stuff fits right in the groove of the song and thats all he needed to do those songs. Never once did that man over play and thats a hard trap to avoid especially for drummers.

Alan, Chris and Zak are far far better musicians. I think you misunderstood me. In technical skill Ringo is not amazing. I am not saying that he is. I am saying that he is a good musician. I think that Alan, Chris, and Zak are all fantastic drummers but the only none of them are very good musicians. Ringo was inventive, could play in any style, and had a great uniqueness about him that no other drummer really has. Ringo is a MUSICIAN and anyone that rags on him about being a poor drummer is not looking at musicianship.

I think that Paul was a far better bassist than George was at guitar. And I'm not just saying that. George is my favourite Beatle so I'm not just slagging him off. George was a fine musician, but Paul was by far the best musician and most technically proficient Beatle.

You don't get bass lines as thoughtful and melodic in modern pop.

Yeah i will have to retract that last statement, you two. I have no idea why what i was thinking haha. I mean come on Paul's basslines are genius, Come together, lady Madonna, Taxman (though George did play that one if i remember correctly).

Actually, using overdubbing in the studio, Paul played both the bass and the relentless guitar solo on Taxman, both parts are among the most virtuosic and inspired parts in The Beatles entire discography IMO.
