Morning Glory is better than Be Here Now. That is a fact. That is also why more people bought it (18 million vs 7 million).
Even if someone only bought it for Wonderwall, that song alone stands up against the entire Be Here Now album.
Be Here Now was NOT experimental.
Morning Glory has better songs, lyrics and production.
Be Here Now has only 2 good songs:- "Don't Go Away" and "Stand By Me".
Let's look at them by comparing relevant tracks the winner in bold:-
DYKWIM vs Wonderwall Use almost the same chords, DYKWIM is way to long. Wonderwall is much easier on the ears.
Stand By Me vs Don't Look Back In Anger Both great songs. Overuse of guitar in SBM. DLBIA is reminicient of the Beatles and Noel sings sweetly as an angel.
Champagne Supernova vs All Around the World Big epic end of album tracks. AATW may be lyrically superior, but it is a song that gets boring quickly (what I like to call a pop song). If you ever see the music video you will hate the song even more (fucking yellow submarine). Champagne Supernova is a beautifully crafted and produced song that goes through a mellow tropical beach at sunset (what some might consider to be an "oasis") feel, to a massive in your face rock assault.
Be Here Now vs Morning Glory Both the title tracks of the respective albums. Morning Glory is a fast paced rocker that makes you feel like strutting down the street like Liam. MG is also quite an underated song. BHN is just odd and has really crap lyrics (eg: Your shit jokes remind me of Digsy's).
Don't Go Away vs Cast No Shadow The more down beat songs of the respective albums. DGA reminds me of Slide Away. It is like a ray of hope in an otherwise mediocre album. DGA is an emotional and heart felt song. CNS is a bit bland, and good production helps it out. Good lyrics though and an overall good song.
The rest:- My Big Mouth, Magic Pie, I Hope I Think I Know, The Girl In the Dirty Shirt, Fade In-Out, It's Getting Better (Man!!)
vs
Hello, Roll With It, Hey Now, Some Might Say, She's Electric
Although some of the BHN tunes are quite catchy, they fail to rise above their mediocrity. Also the song titles are way to long, and so are the songs themselves. Fade In-Out stands out among them because it is different from any other songs they've done and is what you'd more likely expect from a southern American band, with all the slide guitar.
The remaining Morning Glory tracks are all quite nice to listen to. They include the excellent first single Some Might Say, and the blander second single Roll With It. Also included is the catchy and quirky little tune She's Electric. Hey Now isn't up to much but Hello is a great opener.
Let's face it, if Oasis was an unknown band who went to a record company with the songs from Be Here Now, but without the guaranteed success due to the strength of Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory, then Be Here Now would never have been released.
If you didn't quite understand that then what I am saying is, people only bought the album because they knew the first two albums were good.
So there you go, PROOF (for anybody who has listened to both the albums and has an I.Q. of over 70) that Morning Glory is better than Be Here Now. Even the title is better.
Q: (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
A: A big erection you get in the morning when you wake up, that won't go away.

ok...so we know why your name is 'bonebrain' ;D And just because more people bought WTS doesn't mean it's better....that only means it is more successful.

Or as Liam put it "waking up with a rather large one"
I think that theories crap as your looking at it from the popular view, just because every person in England owns a copy of Morning Glory doesnt mean its better.
That was just cos they were massive at the time of that album, they were the only thing happening.

Ive gotta go with bonebrain on this one. With all the hype that surrounded the release of be here now you would have thought it would have outsold Morning Glory. Be Here Now became the fastest selling album in history but then look what happend, everyone realised that is was SHITE!! To be honest, when the album came out i thought it was amazing, but after i listened to it time and time again i realised that the gallaghers only released the album to pay for their huge cocaine habit! I feel cheated when i think noel and liam had some of my hard-earned money to pay for their drug habit and all i got was a portable mirror and a clock that doesnt even fucking work!!!

I feel cheated when i think noel and liam had some of my hard-earned money to pay for their drug habit and all i got was a portable mirror and a clock that doesnt even fucking work!!! At that point i don't think they needed your extra 12 quid to pay for their habits. I paid 12 quid n got to listen to more of Liam's voice n Noel's amazing lyrics for as long as i wanted! well worth it imo. 'everyone realised it was shite' - bit of a generlisation, when you are only speaking for yourself don't you think? You can't say the whole of BHN is crap.....that's just wrong.

And just because more people bought WTS doesn't mean it's better....that only means it is more successful. while noel did say, "just because you sell a lot of records doesn't mean you're any good. just look at phil collins," i have to agree with bonebrain. but morning glory isn't better because of sales. wasn't bhn the fastest selling album ever??? my point exactly.

I think that theories crap as your looking at it from the popular view, just because every person in England owns a copy of Morning Glory doesnt mean its better. That was just cos they were massive at the time of that album, they were the only thing happening. I have to disagree, because they were bigger and more popular in 1997 than 1995. After Knebworth and the unexpected massive success of MG, Oasis were at a level, in the mind of the public, that was greater than just before they released MG. The sales of MG didn't start at as high a level, but when people took notice of the music, it just skyrocketed. BHN however was just hype. It had massive initial sales, but when people took notice of the music, and looked beyond the hype, the sales stopped. Anyway record sales don't determine how good an album is, we both agree on that, it's the music (and to a much lesser extent, the charisma and attitude of the bands members). Despite the fact that we disagree on which album is better, you at least have to concede that the music video for All Around The World is crap.

i think everyones missing the point here, what's the story and be here now are both albums without real meaning. Two great pop records with some good songs but its nothing like an album like Definatley Maybe. An album that really is saying something and straight from the stomache, i listen to Def maybe to get a feeling of a great album with something important to say...the other two albums you put on to listen to some good music and thrash it out wiht your mates, but Definatley Maybe just is written without being famous, arrogant, maybe alittle abnoxious but in a good way, the way young people can connect with music is all in that record...the other two just some up albums made by famous people
