Why do u care what others think, dont let it bother u Mate, if it was just a few people I wouldn't care. It gets on my nerves when there's this massive culture of people who don't engage with modern music, don't like any of the genres in it, don't care to find out about the acclaimed art in it, and yet feel completely confident stating that it is garbage. It on every YouTube video released before 2015, it's in comments about things that aren't related to it, and it's increasingly present on this forum too. People can like what they like, that's cool, but is it so hard to just realise that just because something isn't for you, that doesn't make it garbage for you to condescend about? Especially when so many famous pop and rap albums over the past decade have been so creative, artistic, and memorable. You think I'm being condescending because I don't like rap/hip hop/modern music. And I feel you're being condescending with the people who don't like that kind of genres implying they don't know about music. To each their own. Peace, love and bananas

I think some people are reading way too much into this. it's just a promo video, there are worse things out there for sure. and there are protests all over the world for many different things, hardly a cultural appropiation imo I probably shouldn't have come back to this thread, but it looks like most non-Americans don't see the association of the images. I think this might be a difference in countries, but as an african american, the images being used struck me immediately and made me queasy. The idea of black faces walking into confrontations with police, in a video set during the 60s, when it was common for police to sick dogs on human beings... i mean, those are powerful images in Amercian culture and history. There's a honorific feeling set up around that period and those protests, and some incredibly grissly images attached to them. Im not saying Liam and co were purposely aware of such associations, i obviously doubt they were. But I don't think one should readily dismiss objections by people living in the culture (probably) being represented in the video as "reading too much into it." And I agree with another user, it clearly has a southern/western vibe. I understand your point of view. we also had a fair share of protests and repression during our history but I didn't for one second related to in the music video. maybe it's different in your country

if you release the video before the song, more people are going to take a look. I thought my post was clear. Liam's kind of music is not popular in the current music scene. and thank god about that if you want a video to be popular have a colaboration with a raggeaton shit singer and have a bunch of girls dance in bikini and there you go. popular, tons of views and a lot of new fans! yay It amazes me that people who completely wall themselves off from a scene feel confident enough to make dismissive statements about that same modern culture. I mean, look at the most popular video of the past few years, This is America. It's a rap song, and the video is one of the most symbolic and powerful pieces of popular culture you're gonna get. Bad Guy is the hottest video of the year, and it's dark and weird, showing female sexuality in a light-hearted but empowering way. Last year HUMBLE was incredibly hyped, and that video was fantastic. Jay-Z's video for The Story of OJ got tens of millions of views, and it's one of the most meaningful and memorable videos I've seen. They're creative, and interesting. And I know people who hate pop music despise it, but even (brace yourself) sexy female dancers (argh! boobs! the degradation of all society!) can be shown in artistic ways, with good choreography that conveys some of the meaning of the song - look at Sicko Mode, or Runaway. I'm not saying you have to like the current music scene, you can like whatever you want, and you're right that a lot of it is cookie-cooker rubbish, but you're missing out on a lot of great art by telling yourself that what's popular now must automatically be trash. that just feels like cheap explotation to me so I don't like hip hop. or rap. so what? if you enjoy it, that's ok. I don't have to like it, it doesn't appeal to me. I watched the video of This is America when it came out and it's just... ok? it's no the type of music that I can stand for more than 30 seconds. also, what's popular in the US or Europe is very different to what's popular over here so we might be talking about different kind of trash

am I bothering you? you seem like a nice chap No, but the thread was meant to be about making Liam's videos and songs more popular, not about making hardcore fans like the video more. But I guess I wasn't clear enough in my original post. if you release the video before the song, more people are going to take a look. I thought my post was clear. dude, you wanna call it pop? fine. sounds like a bad 80s pop tune. make it a 80s rock tune. still not gonna like it. Black Star Dancing is slow disco. Holy Mountain is energetic pop. Nothing alike, other than neither of them sounding like If I Had a Gun. If I had a Gun is so cheesy it gives me hives they also don't sound anything like his good tracks: The Masterplan, Supersonic, Live Forever, even TMWBTM. and that is the problem for me

all music videos are nonsense! the golden age was the 90s maybe it'd be best if he releases the music video before the song is out, so the novelty is there and it will attract more views. the song is out, I have it on spotify, on my phone, on the radio, whatever. I don't need to see the video more than once, even if it's a fantastic piece of storytelling Not you. Again, I'm talking about NEW fans. Please... am I bothering you? you seem like a nice chap

Never bothered about the music (promo) video to be honest. If song is good, it's more than enough for me. I haven't watched Shockwave video yet, but I don't see why some people have to have a big deal of it. This is about making Liam's music more popular, not about what's ''enough'' for you or for me. We will listen to Liam's music even if the music video was about Liam walking around in a Stone Island parka making pistol signs with his hands... oh, wait... By the way, are you the person who calls/views herself as ''bootleg queen'', but still got annoyed when I asked if someone could record LG's debut concert a week ago or so? If so, next time you write a post, I guess you might use your brain first. You seem like a retarded person. that's comepletely uncalled for get your shit together or piss off

not true. I expressed many times how much I dislike HM, BSD and those sort of songs. I never liked Chinatown. I don't like any of the remixes. I'm sure the other mods have things they don't like as well. like the times we didn't agree with things said on twitter or interviews. I guess you missed many previous posts we have opinions as much as any other fan, it's just we focus on the things we like rather than the ones we don't, trying to make this place enjoyable for everyone. we don't lose sleep if a song isn't good or a music video doesn't have too many views. it's not worth the hate some people spew Daily reminder that Black Star Dancing sounds fuck-all like Holy Mountain. they both sound like a bad 80's dance tune to me, so yeah. completely skippable both. just like She Taught Me... and most of the tracks on WBTM
