Hadn’t actually heard the audio before but could give more insight into why Noel chose current path. He sounds quite sad

I don’t see another Oasis album but I do hope for a comeback single of Liam on the A-side and Noel on the B-side. Flood the zones with releases and get another UK #1. What a time to be alive!!! I also love the idea of Noel taking those recently discovered dozen Oasis songs that never got recorded and now making them into an Oasis record in 2025. Thinking on it more, if they don’t put out an album, a realistic option would be to put out a new best of around the time of the tour when they’re getting loads of media coverage again. That best of could have a newly recorded track or some old unreleased tracks. That’s something that realistically could happen… Well they will have a 30th anniversary Morning Glory reissue with extras come fall so I doubt they will flood the market with any release before that. Realistically they could drop the MG reissue set at any point that summer. Doesn’t have to be literally the month of the album release.

NBC News said, yesterday, that new music was “in the works” but I have no idea where they got that info from

Hopefully this tour will bring the magic back for him.

Bearing in mind this is the same month he went on the Weller podcast sounding very upbeat, saying he'd written the Jam song for the 'future album' and let's slip about Oasis being back. Not sure what he's up to in the podcast with Matt. Bit of deflection maybe?

Splitting hairs here, but I interpret Noel’s comment to be that the material is there — aka, the songs are good — but he’s not getting the production to a place where he’s feeling it. IDK, always hard to tell what’s going on behind the scenes.

For comparison, he spent 18 years in Oasis before he was done.
So maybe this is just Noel's cycle. He gets bored and has to change things up to keep it fresh for himself.

And yeah, what was going on behind the scene is pretty key cos it now looks a like more was going on than we all knew that's for sure. He knew the Oasis reunion was on when he was saying this stuff so maybe he was just frustrated at the pressure of making a secret Oasis album.

Well seeing as we were all so rudely interrupted 15 years ago today, let's continue the eighth album discussion exactly as we left it, so I'll get in first....
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HIRE A TOP PRODUCER

Who would we like to produce a new Oasis record? I think it's going to be Noel self producing, if it actually comes to happen, but I like some of Liam's producers. Wyatt, Kurstin and Grech Marguerat have all managed a nice enough sound on some tunes that remind me of Oasis. And if we're talking about old geezers trying to make a come back, we also have Andrew Watt, who seems to like collecting retirees

Well Bonehead’s Bank Holiday outtake with drink Bonehead. Earls Court and/or Maine Road in full would be ok for me. But it’s not like Definitely Maybe where a bunch of demos and outtakes exist.

The songs were never a dirge like processions, and that's not because they weren't mid-tempo. I mean there were plenty of mid-tempo songs there, that's the standard thing with both Gallaghers but they all sounded fresh without being lumpen. It's maybe, just maybe, a tad too clean for Oasis, in which case you could get an established producer like Rick Rubin who would find the heavy hitting sound quite easily, along with ensuring the best selection of songs make the album. So Kurstin and co, not my preferred choice, but could certainly do worse.

I'm talking realistically about selection of producers, not what I ideally want. In which case, I've always said Rick Rubin, who as an aside was close to producing an Oasis album once.
In a fantasy world, they go wacky with Brian Eno or something like that which would be fun, but in a realistic world, it's Rubin all day long.
Although Danger Mouse has just come to mind. He suits any genre, and he did produce the best heavy sounding Black Keys records. Given Noel recently worked with them, it's not beyond possibility.

Obviously Better Days is an LG song… but I’ve said it before that if you told me Better Days was written by Noel for the first single of a comeback 8th album, I would easily believe you. There’s something really Oasis about it. Even the video has an Oasis aesthetic.
Something like this would go down mega.

There's so much stuff they do I hate. IMO Noel self producing would be uninspiring. I'd like to have someone who hasn't produced the band before but has pedigree with rock and indie bands. Dan Carey would personally be an exciting choice but I think he's pretty unlikely. There's a lot of decent options out there.

It'll be Noel's crew on the production deck. The Stacey brothers, etc.
It would be amazing to see David Holmes produce the eighth album...
(Imagine the backlash...)

We know Owen Morris has retired now so counting him out.
Rick Rubin is a decent suggestion by Matt, he’s worked with a good few acts and got them sounding heavy. Same for Danger Mouse, he’s diverse but can do decent indie rock.
Another I’d definitely favour is Stephen Street. Not sure if Liam wants his stuff sounding like Parklife , but he’s proven adept at adapting his sound to suit an artist.
