I want to kill myself so badly right now. I really, really, really, really, really want to die.

Is it just me or is the “social commentary” in Black Mirror painfully obvious and not as clever as everyone thinks it is? Makes me cringe Completely agree. Clunky and rudimentary.

I want to kill myself so badly right now. I really, really, really, really, really want to die. It'd be a terrible waste if you did. You're obviously a clever lad and you could do something brilliant, but you have to give yourself time.

What about the 70s? 1970-'73 you've got the big hitters from the 60s still making great music, and new stuff like glam rock (before it went shit) to be excited about. And then between '77 and '79 you've got the emergence of punk and disco and post-punk... The middle years when prog took over were a bit dry, but to be fair the very early 60s, before The Beatles came along and invented pop music, probably weren't all that either. But yeah, I could do with the 2020's being good. Let's not forget that the 70's was the golden age of jazz fusion!

Let's not forget that the 70's was the golden age of jazz fusion! I was just listening to this track, and since you seem to know your way around jazz, I'm just wondering if this could be seen as jazz fusion or not? Ha. I may be the closest thing to the forum's resident jazz fan, but I can assure you that I don't have a goatee, hang out exclusively at 40's style clubs, and go around calling everyone "cat". But yeah, that sounds like jazz fusion to me. The thing about jazz fusion is that, like all genre labels, is just a reductive term that means a combination of jazz and rock. It says nothing about what proportions of each of the two genres should be included! This song is far more on the rock side, though, because of the prominent prog rock solo. But the rhythm is definitely something that you would find in jazz. I really should listen to more Zappa. I like the few songs I've heard from Freak Out and I absolutely love Trout Mask Replica (which he produced), and his quirky and sarcastic sense of humor I really enjoy, yet I haven't explored his discography all that much. Even though I know he made a jazz album in Hot Rats. Oh btw, if you have even the slightest inkling of interest in jazz fusion, you have to check out Bitches Brew. You won't understand it at first, but if you spend enough time with it, it will reveal itself to be one of the most innovative albums of all time and nothing short of a true masterpiece. It also happens to be the album that first turned me onto jazz.

This is my song if/when I get a letter from the army saying they want me back. Fuck them. If you like Tricky's cover then you have to hear the original. Dials the defiance up to 11.

It also happens to be the album that first turned me onto jazz. I've heard quite a lot, but I still feel like I need to listen to more Zappa I guess his enormous discography is one reason for that, but it may also have something to do with the fact that he's so indefinable. Unless you've heard absolutely everything, I think it's hard to feel like you're "done" with him. If you can listen to Trout Mask Replica, you'll have no problem with Zappa haha. But speaking of Hot Rats, have you heard Peaches Regalia? I've tried, but it didn't work at all. Tracks that overstay their visit by ten minutes, absolute chaos in a not so good way. I know it's probably hard(or close to impossible) to "get it" on the first listen, so I'll probably try again, but I don't know if my psyche is ready yet

I know 'Getting High' was written in pre-internet era but come on, it's full of mistakes. "Gallaghers delivering a blistering version of Ticket To Ride with Ocean Colour Scene."
Surely that's Day Tripper, not Ticket To Ride. And the book is full of similar things that I know aren't true.

Alain Chavette must be on heavy drugs, naming a horse partly after the most boring place on Earth. I was born and raised in Canberra so I can say so
