Just got tickets to see Alvvays in October. I almost never go see live music (instead preferring the safety and comfort of my room ) so hopefully this'll be cool.

Just heard an insanely loud crash. My first thought was something exploded somewhere outside. Tried to look through the window and could just spot a car at the corner of the street and heard a lot of people. Too dark to see anything, really. Guessing it was a car accident.
Curious as for what happened. Hope they are okay.

Capitalism and communism seem to be growing closer in objectives as the years progress, i.e. control of people and production, the only real difference being which of the two sides takes control of said matters. I'm old enough to remember sadly the USA/USSR standoff that led us to this point, and with both Russian and West European roots I firmly believe a return to personal freedoms where people are not physically or verbally coerced into actions would be a fine start, whilst remaining obligated to treat others in the same manner. I doubt I will see this due to political and religious interests in my lifetime but would hope at least that the emerging political forces remember they represent not one the people* *apologies if this reads like utter shi*e another heavy med day

It's interesting you say that communism seeks to control people and production, when communism means the people's control of production - to me this is a very real difference from thinking that institutions which are built, developed, maintained, and used socially should be under private control. It's not so much a "side" which wants to control as a democratic system which wants to free. The freedom of the individual and the power of the collective are not contradictory, they're complimentary. The more institutions that are socially owned and controlled, the freer each individual will be.

The freedom of the individual and the power of the collective are not contradictory, they're complimentary. The more institutions that are socially owned and controlled, the freer each individual will be. What it "means" or the intentions and the actual outcomes as history has shown with many belief or political systems can be extremely different. The concept behind communism I understand but like so much of life it has been corrupted or failed by human action and emotions (Lenin being an example). It also requires not only overcoming capitalist beliefs but also much more deeply ingrained religious and social systems around the world that would reject such politics for precisely the freedoms you mention. However in the spirit of positive thinking and given you are the youth whose future we are discussing (sadly not mine but hey ho ) I genuinely wish you and those who work with you well in reshaping a future under very different terms to the last two centuries. In doing so also remember that these times as oppressive as they can on occasion seem are still more free than the majority of human history, and to progress rather than regress means to keep checks on public institutions if they are the way forward to avoid a state control situation developing and to educate always on both reasons for actions and on why past systems failed or were flawed to begin with. Hopefully a bit more clearer on my thinking here but as always critical responses are welcome

In doing so also remember that these times as oppressive as they can in occasion seem are still more free than the majority of human history, and to progress rather than regress means to keep checks on public institutions if they are the way forward to avoid a state control situation developing and to educate always on both reasons for actions and on why past systems failed or were flawed to begin with. Hopefully a bit more clearer on my thinking here but as always critical responses are welcome Well, I think the religious and culturals ideas you referred to would be more accurately defined as tenants of Marxism or Marxist philosophy rather than communism - after all, many communists hold different beliefs regarding these issues but ultimately their belief in total social ownership of property makes them communists. It's true, of course, that Marxism and communism are tightly intertwined, but if we address the former rather than the latter I think your original point stands

There is a specific section for this. Under the community tab, find musicians. Maybe it's your age restriction that's the issue? Don't discount us old fuckers. They might like Dandy Warhols and have some of those green trees you were asking about yesterday, as well as playing a decent tune

But no, I live in a small Finnish town. I've gotta get fuck outta here

And all of my influences, my band mates knew about 10% of those.

Now I know how Noel felt when he dropped that gas pipe on his foot. Maybe I can pick up my guitar and find a hit hut too where the walls are made of gold.

FYI: October 14th does not exist this year and I will therefore not be turning thirty thanks to this coincidental anomaly.

Beady’s Here Now does the white line. *#CigarettesAndAlcoholLiveByTheSea1995 * I'm talking about when he's been drink driving and gets pulled over by the cops. Although i'm sure he loves the drug search.
