I get why the band and everyone around them were disappointed with the sound of the Monnow Valley recordings: this version of Up In the Sky sound very polished anc crisp clear, but it lacks urgency and that distinctive early-Oasis growl. It is very good though: it sounds a lot more Beatles-esque and the acoustic outro is gorgeous. My thoughts exactly. And I’d agree with Lennon on the La’s vibe on the outro.

Hope not. Quite hideous IMO. Not even sure what’s DM about this? The colors?

That’s the coolest of the vinyl releases. Both sleeve and colour of the vinyl

I'll skip this one. I've lost count of the copies of DM that I own. And to be fair, Blood Records pressings often look good but sound a bit shit.

Pre-ordered the Blood Record one. As I've only pre-ordered the deluxe CD, this one is nice to own. After 15 years, Gallaghers are still digging a hole in my wallet.

Probably a stupid question but ill ask anyway.
Does the vinyl have all the extra tracks (sawmills etc) or is it just purely the album

Does the vinyl have all the extra tracks (sawmills etc) or is it just purely the album Nah the Blood records one appears to just be the regular 2LP album. You need to buy the 4LP to get the Sawmills/ Monnow Valley sessions tracks on vinyl. Speaking of which, I paid £44 posted for the 4LP on amazon, so I'll be damned if they think I'm paying another £40 for this 2LP Blood records version! I think the actual vinyl looks like an awful bootleg.

Question for the vinyl folks: Do you hear any meaningful improvement in sound quality?
I haven’t done the vinyl thing all my life but thinking about getting in to it. Just curious if it’s more about being a collector vs. better sound. Thanks!

I was thinking the same, some of the backing vocals sound very Noel 2024. That's interesting. It's hard to tell but it sounds like young Noel to me. I know some artists have recorded new parts for reissues of old albums, Billy Corgan does it with guitar parts, it's not really noticeable but it's there. Bruce Springsteen did it with a lot of songs from the Darkness on the Edge of Town sessions (The Promise). He also said recently he had his drummer Max Weinberg rerecording drums for unreleased boxset of songs stretching back decades. Its cool when artists do that, they essentially keep the spirit of the original recordings alive but just adding a bit of polish and substance. As opposed to acts who rip up their original tracks entirely making them much worse (see U2).

It depends what audio set up you have mate but yeah you can get improved sound through vinyl , mostly original pressings than newer remastered pressings.

CD is the superior medium. *runs* 🏃 that. A good HQ rip with no compression and good to go. I have vinyls and just never listen to them.
