I wish I loved anything as much as Liam loves etched backside vinyl.

That riff on the sample, oh my dear god, I can't cope. It's Stone Roses to even the most casual listener. I pray for a real stormer or even a tune akin to It's a Beautiful Thing...loved that

Find it quite interesting how all secret this has all been. Until Liam announced it that is..

Sounds like Stone Roses doing Cloudburst! Hopefully Gallagher Squire isn't only the band name but also the songwriting credentials.

I think this new album will recall the sound of the first Oasis demos when the Stone Roses influences were still evident. My hopes for a more rock and less "commercial" album could come true. I want an album that is a worthy brother to Definitely Maybe.

From what the newspapers wrote, only 3 songs started from Squire's drafts worked on by both of them. The rest of the album seems to be the result of both of them writing together.

And I’m sure they have worked together on the songs, I’d think Liam has provided a song or two of his own. But in that partnership Squire is the primary musician and songwriter.

I doubt they would go along with a project like that with songwriters for hire. That would be ridiculous. + John Squire has not released something worthy in over 30 years (wow ) so that will be his bug comeback, his statement. His new legacy. So my guess is that new project is mainly his and Liam. Kurstin is just (apparently) the legal obligation in Liam's contract with Warner, in some form (songwriting or producing)

He’s a well regarded producer, multi instrumentalist and judging by the drummer, can get some talented people on board.

This is the most excited I’ve been for a Liam project since the snippet of Sons of The Stage dropped 13 years ago (!)
If John Robb’s Second Coming comparison is accurate, I’ll be having it.

His solo records were well and truly panned by the critics. A lot of criticism of his voice. Still believe he can write a song and play guitar very well though, so here's hoping he's on top form got the album. Yeah he's not much of a singer, but its good to hear where he stopped. I didnt really like the Stone Roses return, it was weak. So i'll start again at Squire solo. That said it's been almost 20 years, so I guess in the meantime he found inspiration to come up with 10/11 good tracks. Let's hope. I joke that I'm one of the 12 people that enjoyed Squire's solo output... A lot of people at the time couldn't get past his voice, but "Joe Louis" and "Shine a Little Light" from the first record are still tracks I go back to fairly often. The second album's production was a little weird (thin and tinny), but the idea was cool - every track based on an Edward Hopper painting. And "Automat" and "Cape Cod Morning" are both solid tunes you can go back to quite easily. He's always been a decent songwriter, a lot of his output just seems to have been let down by its delivery. I know the narrative of "Second Coming" was his cocaine and his ego taking over the sessions that killed the collaborative spirit of the first record, but if you compare the Squire-only tracks to the collaborative ones on "Second Coming," the Squire-only tracks are the bangers. I'm just glad he's got a musical outlet to get ideas out again - as noted earlier in this thread, as great of an artist as he is, it is frustrating to see his guitar and songwriting skills not get the mileage they should have since the turn of the century.

I’ve had trouble finding his albums. Especially his debut in America.
