I'm thinking that if this album turns out really good, Liam and John should continue working together as a sort of "Liam and Noel" in the Oasis days. John will get us used to full and beautifully played guitars, and he will need Liam's beautiful voice to take those songs as high as possible (Just as happened with Oasis). If Liam releases a fourth solo album without John, the lack of instrumental incisiveness could be evident. If John were to release an album without Liam the songs would die without the right voice. So as already happened with Oasis "Liam needs John and John needs Liam". So I hope that the collaboration will last a long time, and that Nothing Nowhere will still be released in the future because it's amazing and if it were recorded again with Squire on guitar it could come out even better. I hope that if Liam writes some good new songs they will be given to Squire on the instrumentals, and I hope that Squire will continue to write great songs and that they will be given to Liam on the vocals. John isn't a replacement Noel and Liam isn't a replacement Ian. This project isn't Oasis 2.0. Completely different vibe, dynamic and personalities with these two. They both can still work with whoever they want and create whatever music they want, they not dependent on one another. Just let these two be who they are and appreciate what they're doing without comparing them both to their former bands or bandmates.

I didn't write that John is a replacement for Noel and Liam is a replacement for Ian. This is a new project. I just said that this duo works in the same way that Liam and Noel worked in Oasis. The instrumental part sounded good because Noel was the guitarist, and the vocal part sounded good because Liam's voice was perfect for those things. If one of the two were to be missing, the void would be felt and the songs would lose their effectiveness. So today to be at the top with music, both must be there. Just like what happened between Liam and Noel in the Oasis days. The fact that Squire declared that he had been looking for a suitable voice for those songs for years without ever finding it, until the moment he entrusted them to Liam and the songs were transformed, and that Liam declared that Squire's guitar parts sound incredible confirms my reasoning

Like come on mate, I know you're enthusiastic but that's over the top. They've only released two songs so far, give em half a chance to prove themselves before you pronounce them musically married!

Liam Gallagher and John Squire: the coolest Manchester superband on the planet The Oasis frontman and Stone Roses guitarist have announced the release of an album, coinciding with the release of second single, Mars To Liverpool . And in April they will play in Italy BY FRANCESCO LO TORTO FEBRUARY 2, 2024 Liam Gallagher and John Squire TOM OXLEY Liam Gallagher and John Squire had already shared the Knebworth Park stage: it was August '96 and in the park north of London, in front of 250 thousand people, Oasis were playing . To make what in subsequent years would be remembered as one of the most important lives in the history of British rock even more iconic, the Manchester band decided to invite a guest. A fellow Mancunian. A master for the Gallagher brothers who eight years earlier had been to a concert at the International 2 in Manchester, being struck by the Stone Roses . After Liam's announcement, guitarist John Squire takes the stage and plays with the band Champagne Supernova. A cult moment for Britpop fans. A classic from the nineties that the frontman of Oasis and Beady Eye wanted to recreate in June 2022, during his solo live show. Same location, same song, same guest: «I wanna hear a big fucking round of applause for the coolest man on the planet . The one and only John fucking Squire”. The idea of a studio collaboration between the two artists was born during the Knebworth Park concert in 2022. The Liam Gallagher & John Squire album will be released on March 1st. It was announced on January 29, coinciding with the release of the second single, Mars To Liverpool : a joyful piece ("The sun is up, the skies are blue"), with a winning melody, perfect for Liam's voice. The chorus is catchy. You can feel the influence of Squire's pen, co-author with Ian Brown of the Stone Roses' songs. As in Just Another Rainbow, the album's first single, the guitarist brings his Sixties rock sound to the song . Unlike the first piece, however, in Mars To Liverpool there is less anger, both in the riffs and in the solos. The guitar parts paint the atmosphere of the song and accompany Liam's boastful irony: «Jesus Christ, about last night, I can only apologize». Both are protagonists. Liam's voice is willing to leave room for John's musicality. A duet that will also be possible to witness live in Italy, on April 6th at the Fabrique in Milan . Fans' anticipation for the Manchester superband 's tour is high. «I can't wait for people to hear the album. I think people who love the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kind of music will love it,” said Liam Gallagher, introducing the album, enthusiastic about the collaboration with Squire. Maybe he thinks back to him when he saw him play live for the first time at 16, in that club in Plymouth Grove. It was during that concert that he had the epiphany: for the first time he desired the music, the spotlight, the crowd. After 36 years, with all the career, concerts and records that have happened in between, he will finally be on tour with «the coolest man on the planet».

I think the Mars To Liverpool music video shows even more how the album sleeve design may be a nod to Andy Warhol's pop art as the video features some shots of the album artwork in the serial silkscreen style, so they've already covered two of his famous art concepts

Mars to Liverpool is a great tune! There's definitely a certain Be Here Now vibe going throughout this song. Can't wait for the album.
Anyone going to the Milan gig?

The Blood Records vinyl has dropped! blood-records.co.uk/products/liamjohnAnd looks like the vinyl comes in a sleeve with blue background. Usually I'm a lover of minimalistic aesthetics, so I can see why the standard album cover has a white background, but with this particular design a coloured background looks better in my eyes, so I'm really liking this blue sleeve

One of the major bugbears I had with the Liam one was the plastic bag it came in.

Squire seems perfectly content pottering around in his shed. John said he’s willing to do this again and already writing the second album, he has no doubts. It’s Liam who said “if”. I think if Liam liked the experience they’ll do it again

Squire has less options than Liam, if he wants a large audience. Despite him being the creative force behind this album, I think its fair to say its Liam that's bringing the fans, for the most part. No coincidence that JS starting planning this as he stood on the Knebworth stage looking out at 90 thousand Liam fans.
Liam on the other hand has a stadium filling solo career he has put in the back burner plus Oasis anniversaries for DM and WTSMG next year. This needs to be very successful very quickly from his point of view or its not going to be worth the hit financially for him to make it a priority. Saying that he always says he prefers to be a singer in a band than a solo star so he might find the trade off worth it.

It doesn't need to be huge, and they know it. They booked smaller venues, so it's really a side project that could be be bigger if it's a success in the sales department.
It's a risk, but not that big of a risk. It's a calculated risk. At this point of his career, Liam will fill those venues in seconds, even if he comes to rap.
Small tour, small venues, now they just need critics approval and it's good to go for album #2, which to me, is already written. Or they wouldn't be so confident.

I think the small tour is more because of a lack of material plus Liams already busy schedule. I think they follow up quickly with another album and then scale it up as long as the demand is there. Which I'm sure it will be.
