I wish they'd stop editing his vocals so much to sound smooth. His vocals live are better than his studio takes these days which I never thought I'd say. You just know when he sings "dream" there will be a rasp. Not saying there's anything wrong with the vocals in the snippet, they sound fine so far but just something I've noticed since he's gone solo. From what I gathered unfortunately it’s pretty much an industry standard, to smooth everyone’s voice. I don’t think it’s depends on producer or anyone Well it is an industry standard now but its not like it HAS to be done. The artistic choice to do so should still be down to the producer, mix engineer etc. A big thing now is mixers and producers using something called Dynamic Response Suppressors. It essentially takes problematic resonances and gets rid of them, making vocals sound ultra smooth. Fantastic technology is you're producing very clean pop productions, or also if you have recorded vocals in less than ideal places in terms of nasty room resonances etc. But it's becoming a bit of a standard to use this right across the board, so all kinds of music now has these ultra smooth vocal but it can also remove resonances that add character. |

If you listen to the first clip and immediately listen to the video clip it really gets me excited. The quality of the original snippet is much better than the video quality tho.

Still waiting for a clear version. These rips off TV sports shows are 2 poor to really understand the quality.
It's very clear tho that his voice has been manipulated for the psychedelia of the track.
It doesn't necessarily mean all the other tracks will sound like it.

I thought very few Stone Roses songs were solely credited to Brown as writer, whereas quite a bit of Second Coming is credited only to Squire. So I think it more likely songs would be reused for this Liam project. We may never know though. 🍋 |
