All my people right here right now – big announcement time. You may have seen me posting about this across social media. Get on the Rollercoaster: Oasis in New Zealand, March 1998 out on 7 November - just over a week to go. Synopsis: “Twenty-five years ago, New Zealand welcomed the most notorious rock 'n' roll stars of the 1990s, Oasis, to its shores. The band's first two albums Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? had already reached cult status, cementing their place in music history, but it took until 1998 and the release of their divisive third album Be Here Now to secure a visit down under. The story of that tour is detailed in this book, a heady mix of triumph, joy and disappointment, as seen and retold mostly through the eyes of concertgoers and the band's crew, including interviews with Michael O'Connor (Production Manager), Paolo Hewitt (band biographer and DJ) and Gareth Williams (Monitor Engineer) amongst others. From the early ripples of excitement in the New Zealand press when the band released its debut album, through to their commercial peak, the scene is set for their much-anticipated 1998 visit. The only time the band would grace these shores. The tour itself is covered through a unique combination of historical information, advertising material, media coverage and never-before-seen photographs, to complement the previously untold accounts from the fans, crew and some famous New Zealand musicians influenced by Oasis, including Tom Larkin of Shihad. Foreword by New Zealand music and pop culture writer Simon Sweetman. Heavily illustrated with over 50 photographs and rarely seen press material. Written by the fans, for the fans. This is the unofficial story of Oasis in New Zealand.” Paperback and Hardback versions are available. The best deal for those in the UK, Europe and USA is The Great British Bookshop – much cheaper than anywhere else at £14.50 for paperback and £19.99 for hardback. If you sign up for their newsletter you may get a further 10% off as well. Their version is glossier than the ones printed via Amazon or any other store. Both versions great so it comes down to personal preference and postage. www.thegreatbritishbookshop.co.uk/products/get-on-the-rollercoaster linktr.ee/gotroasisnz98It’ll also be on sale in various online shops such as Amazon and Waterstones. I’m still working on getting it out further afield and locally here in NZ. But please do tell anyone who may be interested. Thanks, Karamdeep Sahota

Keen to buy a copy in NZ. If you can keep us updated about local availability that would be great! Cheers. I won’t be able to get many into NZ stores as I haven’t printed many up front. I didn’t have the space or funds to distribute myself. I’ve posted one to the UK and it was $55 postage! I have asked a few stores to order them in but they seem to want to order from USA instead of Australia which makes them really expensive. It’s way over priced on Might Ape. I’m hoping Unity Books in Wellington will take a few but they may be snapped up by locals in store rather than online. I’ve been in discussions with them. They said they would list is at $55 which is a bit more than Amazon Australia - but not by much. Hard a self-publisher as the shops look down at you! Depending on where you are based you could ask your local bookshop. Time Out in Auckland has it on for $68 - still overpriced. Scorpio in Chch even more! But thanks for the interest. Do let anyone else know it does exist.

What is Liam holding in his mouth? I might buy this book. Thanks mate - yep as Jezza said - kazoo. Lots of great pics inside of Liam a bit wasted at the Wellington gig. If you’re in the UK, USA or Europe the Great British Bookshop is cheapest. Sadly postage from them to Australia and NZ doesn’t work out so well.

I have a general question about the date in Auckland! What is the date penned for that show? I've seen March 9th but I've also seen March 11th based on ticket stubs. Did you corner the correct date of the show?

Did you corner the correct date of the show? Defo covered! It was March 9 - originally scheduled for March 11 but they had to change the date - more in the book! But so late in the day the tickets remained with the old date and venue

Grabbed a copy from Unity books in Wellington today, and it looked like a few others had been sold too, because the guy at the counter said it was the book of the moment! Looks like a great read just having a quick flick through. Looks really comprehensive with newspaper clippings and local coverage … the author has done a great job! Makes me want to do a similar one for Queen’s 1985 concert in NZ haha.

Listening to the Oasis podcast episode about the book - what an achievement this is. I like how the research is described as forensic! Clearly a labour of love by the sounds of it. Going to order my copy tomorrow.

The linktree link in first post has the main options. Loving the support and interest in the book. I was worried no one would care.

bhnausnz have you looked into print on demand for UK / USA markets? Seems like it should cut out worldwide shipping costs and enable single print runs.

bhnausnz have you looked into print on demand for UK / USA markets? Seems like it should cut out worldwide shipping costs and enable single print runs. Hi mate, It is print on demand. The linktree link I’ve linked to the best options each market. For UK The Great British Bookshop and Blackwells or Amazon UK will be less as they are printed locally. For USA - Barnes and Noble have it printed in USA - but GB Bookshop from the UK is still a reasonable option For Australia - Amazon Aus have been terrible. Meant to print on demand but they are slow. So I’m sending Aussies to Blackwells UK who at least ship quickly. Europe - Great British Bookshop is probably best option. NZ is down to me where I print some and sell or distribute to a shop as no print on demand option within NZ that Isn’t a rip off. I’ve seen the listing on a few Asian stores in Taiwan, India, Japan or Korea. So they must print locally too. South America is my only black spot. Can’t find a print on demand option that works well yet.

However, now I understand and see how much of a PITA it is. Do the print on demand versions come with the nice colour cover?
