Ok maybe soccer does take a minimal amount of upper body strength, but its not even a fraction of what football takes. Ever try to pass block (basically standing there with little leverage pushing with your arms) a 330 pound defensive tackle? It isn't fun.
I respect soccer very very much, I'm planning on following the world cup closely (England is my 2nd team by the way) but I just think football is better in every way. Sure its not constant movement like soccer (which is usually boring anyway) but those 10 or 15 seconds are the most exciting thing in sports. Football will always be my #1 sport, and the Bills will always be my #1 team.

Hang on a sec...
Suppose football (soccer) required only a minimal amount of upper body strength (even though this isn't true), does that matter? It's like saying 'oh, I don't like darts because it doesn't require any leg muscle so it must be shit'. What sort of an argument is that???

Sure you need a rediculous amount of endurance and speed for soccer, but thats basically it. Football you need strength, endurance, quickness, perfect technique and smarts. This is just my personal experience, players on the football team in my school train year round, while soccer players almost never train. The soccer team is better too.

Lets put it this way... Sam Adams, 330 lbs (at least) DT on the Buffalo Bills can run 40 yards in 5.2 seconds. Linemen, like Adams, need some of the best technique out of anyone on the field. It may seem very very simple, but trust me, as a Offensive Lineman for 3 years, you need perfect concintration and technique to succeed. If you lean back too far you'll be pushed back. Lean forward too far and you'll be thrown. Stand up to much and you'll be bowled over. Stand too low and you'll be ran right by. I'm going to be honest and say that I've never watched any soccer games outside of the last World Cup. The US league isn't even worth watching and the Europe leagues are never on TV. I'm not saying soccer is boring, because it's not. But it is MORE boring than football, to me anyway. Football games, especially Bills games, are events. It's a place where everyone comes together and roots for a common purpose. I agree that the atmosphere isn't as intense as a Europe soccer game, but it's most definitly not lame. BTW I've never seen a foam finger in my life.
