I think his point is that true fans buy their music and directly support artists instead of streaming which is only worth pennies. Nothing to see here. His whole shtick is getting rock n' roll music back into the charts. Buying music is rocket fuel to achieve that goal. Sure, but you can also buy digital music. That's mostly what I do to support artists I care about. I don't usually need the physical CD, I'd rather not have to store it, and I don't love the environmental cost of either the shipping or the production of the thing itself.
And if you care about artist support and still want the accessibility of streaming, there are platforms that pay better than Spotify. The last time I checked, Tidal paid artists like twice as much per stream.

I don't mean to invalidate your point in any here but, although I get the environmental cost of getting a physical version of a record, there are also environmental costs to making/hosting/downloading/storing/streaming digital versions and sometimes they're surprisingly high. Saying that, I do believe true fans will buy the record. I disagree with streaming, even with Tidal. I still have a YouTube Music because, other than Tidal, it's the one that pays the most (in quarters of cents) but I always buy a physical version (which is getting more and more difficult). But I think you're right, the important part is to buy it, digital or not. I do think there's also a lot of misunderstanding from people that are not music nerds about streaming. From what I can tell, people seem to think it's the equivalent of buying a digital version and not necessarily realize that only streaming it will result in rolls of pennies being given to the artist once every year. And I think you can be a fan and be in that category. But what he means by "true fans" I think is us, the nerds, the ones that fight over a quote in a newspaper or a guy on YouTube writing fan fiction about the records of the band we love. And I believe we here should buy the records we want to listen to.

His video review of Council Skies has a disclaimer, asking 'the usual suspects' to 'not lose their shit' over his opinion / interpretation of the lyrics
He must take some dogs abuse

I like many of his videos. I've watched most of them. Good entertainment every now and then. I don't get the hate. He's just a fan like the rest of us doing his own thing, sharing his opinions, and trying to make a living.

Cue the video where James says Noel’s #1 streak is still alive because this Noel is an imposter.

I enjoyed the Council Skies review. Obviously he is just wildly speculating, but e.g. the Easy Now interpretation as a song for his kids after the divorce makes sense, and when I think of the song that way, it feels more real and less "manufactured" to me. Of course, I know the interpretation could be completely wrong, but still ...

He’s harmless right? Right? Right?!?!? He’s mostly harmless right? He’s harmless right? Because I feel uneasy after these videos. This guy basically writes fan fic right? Like all those now “legend” destined Star Wars novels from 1983 to 1997? Cue the video where James says Noel’s #1 streak is still alive because this Noel is an imposter. This guy's obsessiveness is harmless, right? Or is he already out stalking James IRL?

My brother stumbled on YouTube and came across Hargreaves ‘music’ recently. I can’t repeat what he said about it... The biggest mystery is when I heard his DLBIA cover video. He went all the way to record it in Rockfield with Nick Brine, a full band (some even coming from Australia) trying to "recreate" the song and, I'm not a producer myself but to me, the result sounds not even mixed (!?) Was James not arsed to pay for the mix or was he "lied" to and the engineer just did the bare minimum ?

Don't know anything about production but with the exact same instruments Hargreaves is performing here, it's interesting how 'tinny' it sounds here (i.e the same piano Bonehead used on the track) without the full thick wall of sound Owen Morris production. I know Noel hates the sound of Morning Glory album but his idea of production is far too clean. I do wish he'd see sense in the fact that those Owen Morris produced albums were THE Oasis sound. His latter production efforts (in addition to the original safe and clean Definitely Maybe recordings) just goes to show that if Noel were in charge of the sonics early on, the raging success wouldn't have been there regardless of the song quality. Hargreaves should focus on doing an appraisal on the importance of Owen Morris to Oasis success rather than getting bogged down in theories like The Masterplan being about the prophecies of a superior alien race coming soon to save us from modern pop or whatever.

Producers are much more important than they're given credit for by the general public. As outstanding as they were as musicians and songwriters, would have The Beatles remained timeless 50 years after their breakup if George hadn't been their producer ? Same for Bowie without Visconti ? Pop music is a sport team. Morris indeed brought so much to those albums, not only in the production but also in the arrangements. For instance, this eerie mellotron part was his idea (he even played the higher octave part during the chorus). Coming back to Hargreaves, I think he also didn't play many of the more "obscure" tracks on Don't Look Back In Anger: the organ doing the harmony throughout, the ebow during the pre chorus, the mellotron (?) that plays a very similar melody to the vocal one but on a higher octave during the chorus, probably a couple of electric rhythm guitars tracks, etc All those elements helped to fill up the frequency spectrum a bit more, which in return, helped a bit to get that massive wall of sound

I think music, particularly in the western world, is obsessed with the idea of 'genius', and most stars fall for that egotistical outlook where they are the be all and end all. But strip it all back, and as you say, there are many more cooks involved. Even the very best like Paul McCartney is not as good without the strong arm of a producer - his best record in 20 years is Chaos & Creation where Nigel Godrich exerted a lot of creative and quality control, probably to Macca's discomfort (as he hasn't made a record with him since).

To be fair, he actually has already done a video on this, explaining why Definitely Maybe was doomed until Owen Morris got involved. Someone should do a dive into how poor Noel is as a producer though. Heathen Chemistry sounds like ass which ruined decent songs like Born on a Different Cloud. But I do think that cover is one of the worst videos he's done, not only because of how weak it sounds but also because it is missing a lot of the elements that make up the original. Certain parts that make up the soup are just not played. Also, Tom videos and bogus theories aside, he does have a lot of good content when it comes to unearthing buried parts in songs and providing histories on key events in the band's history such as the Amsterdam incident. There is good and bad to be found.

Heathen Chemistry sounds like ass which ruined decent songs like Born on a Different Cloud. Heathen Chemistry was "self produced" not "self mixed". Big difference. I doubt Noel sat down and knew how to compress a guitar sound, or correctly EQ a bass. In fact I'm sure Mark "Spike" Stent did a lot of the mixing on HC.
