Same with Knebworth tickets. It's a seedy business. Knebworth is the symbol of everything that is wrong with today's aging acts. Ridiculous prices, surfing on nostalgia... it's the worse one of the lot.

Noel and Liam doing these lucrative private gigs suggests that any chance of an Oasis reunion hinges on the right amount money being offered - and the chances are someone will offer it. If it was money they would've done it, but there's pride and family matters too

If it was money they would've done it, but there's pride and family matters too No doubt there have been offers. If I remember correctly, Noel has said in an interview somewhere on youtube that if there is a crazy amount offered he'd do it. I think there'll be a reunion at some point. We'll have to wait and see.

I could never appreciate festivals type gigs. Although Finsbury wasn't too bad. Pulp at Hyde park in 2011 was weird for me, and it was the first time seeing them. + they were way better indoors a few months later. I'd rather have a band in an indoor venue, somewhere where the music really shines, where the music resonates in the walls and is not transmitted through a shitty and too loud PA. Even Arenas i never managed to fully appreciate a gig. Dont know why, feels a bit plastic. Feels like you're a cow waiting to be slaughtered or something. That said, if price were okay again, maybe i would go another time if that's the only option now. But it looks like Pulp will do smaller dates in Europe, fingers crossed.

I fail to see what the issue is here. He's a musician who got paid to play a private event for an NFL team. This is hardly playing for a tyrannical dictator who murders his own people for a quick cash grab, like how Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, Usher, Beyoncé, Lionel Ritchie, and 50 Cent all performed for Gaddafi.

These private parties for wealthy people are fascinating. There are talks about huge bands (U2, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones...) playing at secret birthday parties for wealthy saudi families and stuff, I wonder what if Oasis has ever reunited but we don't know about it? Haha, I think we'd hear about this for sure. Certainly there'd indignation at playing to blood wringing Saudi families.

Come on people, they need money to survive.
Many people think that is the same to have 70 million and 70,2 million and that's where they wrong. It's not.

I saw Pulp at IOW that year, and it's probably the only time I'll get to see them, I'm glad I got the chance. (And Jarvis dedicating Common People to Wills and Kate was pretty epic).

Just the way of the world - people want music for free (practically so in relation to streaming) so artists have to make a living another way. He's hardly the first and won't be the last: Would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the meeting where the marketing exec said “I feel this lingerie advert is missing something. Should we get Bob Dylan in?” X

Not Saudis, of course, but you know, similar vibes with the whole disregard for human rights.
